Left work promptly yesterday, so was home in time to fitin a brisk walk with Mr C .....up Black Down, the highest point round here (although thats not much of a claim to fame .....lets just say its a hill, with lovely views ).
Expecting to be late tonight, so have just had an early morning greenhouse watering session . Love how everything is shooting away now. Think i'l. Be giving the cosmos their first pinch soon .
Have a great (if somewhat damp) day ......don't forget ☔️☂☔️☂☔️
When I was weeding the Sunny bed yesterday I noticed lots of self-seeded cosmos ... Obviously my dead heading wasn't that thorough last year ... But I thought they needed a bit of heat to germinate? its been chilly here until this week.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
More heavy rain forecast today! My grass is already squelchy but at least the pond is having a good flush through. I had a 10 minute garden-check yesterday evening and did notice my Cosmos seedlings (sown last week) are peeping plus the Peacock Orchids I did a few weeks ago - excellent.
Morning all/afties Pat if you're there. I haven't read back yet.
A calmer day here today. It threatened to dry up and be nice by lunchtime but it didn't last. Good for the garden though, and at least the wind didn't wake me up last night!ought a while back. I don't really like them, but
Hope all the poorly folk are on the mend now. Has your cauliflower ear gone down now Dove
Enjoy your visit BL
I have a few flowers on the little pelargoniums I bought a while back. I don't really like them, but I've always wanted this one, Lord Bute, because of the colour. Very sumptuous. My bargain lilies and Liatris are all growing - 8 lily bulbs for 2 quid, and about 30 Liatris for the same price. The lilies might take a while to get to any size, but they're ideal for slotting into gaps.
Have a good day everyone - better go and get organised for the mines.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good morning all. Scorchio here already. 27.5C at 9am. I'm on my second coffee and then out and at the weeds in the silk tree bed. Bit of a lie in cos I was out late hunting Minstrel and Rasta who were busy at 1am in the potager. Found them by torchlight which meant I didn't see the nettles as I did the tour of the ruin in flip flops. Good for my arthritis!
The RHS says cleome seeds need stratification for 2 weeks and then 18 to 24C to germinate. I expect they've had that Dove.
No bats spotted here yet tho we do have swallows/house martins swooping about and what I would have thought were ideal roosting sites in teh ruin and barn so I must look harder.
Happy gardening.
