One year I was in Bristol with my scientists - Cabot tower, Clifton bridge and panorama, SS Great Britain and Matthew (so tiny). Whilst walking about exploring we heard evensong in a large church and went in. Beautiful and so calming.
We visited Luçon cathedral last week - very naked and simple and, at midday, not another soul about.
Most of our grass has turned to hay so needs tackling with the strimmer before we have another go with the sit-on which is currently being fixed after getting a length of twine wrapped tightly round the blade shaft. The grass also has tall nettle patches as well as apple mint that has escaped........ I think our compost bins may fill up rather quickly.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Kettle, taps, sink and surround - the kettle's getting a half hour soak, the taps have had a scrub with descaling gel and the rest get a wipe over with gel and then a good rinse. We have very hard water in this area.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hard water is a real issue round here - don't know anybody who doesn't have a softener.
We had 3 weeks without one when the kitchen was being done - scummy tea, taps caked in limescale within days, dirty sinks and surrounds, had to descale the kettle twice in that period - drove me mad. Can recommend a good brand if you want one Dove
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Morning all.
Wet, windy and wild out there today. I'm glad we got the leaves done yesterday. What's left are for the worms.
Lifting dahlias and moving agapanthus into polytunnel today and a bit of a sort out. .
Underfloor heating decided to start making a bit of an odd noise at 3.30 this morning. Plumber coming tomorrow .
I've managed an average of 4.5 hours sleep every night for the last week. Really struggling now.
Hosta - maybe the holiday will help restore a good night's sleep.
Oh Hosta! ((hugs)) you definitely need your holiday
Descaling the kitchen at the moment - I will feel very virtuous when it's all done, but for now I need coffee and can't have it

The kitchen or the kettle Dove?

I've never had to deal with that problem Dove. Soft water here
Soft water here, and lots of it falling from the sky as we speak.
Hosta - spare a tiny thought for the rest of us when you are lounging in the sun.
