Pdoc - do you know how good your local social services' child section is?  Will they help him get a grip on life and take charge rather than taking dope?   Can you cope with NDN coming down like a ton of bricks if he finds you've referred his son?   Tricky one.  At least the child had the sense to ask you for help when he needed it.   Good for him to know you're there.

Planning to paint but held up cos I can't find my paint blender - a stick blender with a whisk attachment.   Got the whisk but not the power end.   Back to searching then.  Plan B is pottering with bulbs for me too.

Told OH last night that having catalogued my seeds for climbers, annuals, biennials and perennials up to H I had saved us over £200 so far on seed orders so we could buy plants for my winter bed.  He isn't falling for it.   Working on it.

Thanks Obelixx, you have raised my worries about this, I am going to have to give it serious thought.

Dove, do you think I need to contact Social Services?

    See original post

The hospital should have done it if they're following their CP procedures ....... however, they may not have ... I would make a referral if I were you.  In fact, as a doctor (even if not working) I think that technically you may have a duty to make a referral.

I would explain the situation - the historical difficult relationship regarding NDN and that police have been involved, and ask for anonimity.

My guess is that NDN will assume that the paramedics or hospital made the referral anyway.

Thanks Dove, I will use my contacts to find out whether the hospital has contacted them.

You are right, in that I am concerned about whether I do have a duty of care in such situations. Very far removed from ICU and the things I have any knowledge of.

  • I've made anonymous referrals in the past (before I worked for Children's Services).  My identity was never divulged.

Also, when I was working for Children's Services we received anonymous referrals which came via our 'Referral Team' who handled the first point of contact phone calls.  The ID of the caller was always protected.

That's reassuring as it sounds like the boy needs help but Pdoc surely doesn't need any more grief from NDN.

It has turned nice and warm now but I can't make the most of it with the dogs as my recently re-attached toes are seriously stiff and painful after Paso and Tango and Cha-cha last night.   OK for quiet pottering though.  First annex sorting to see if I can unearth the paint whizzer.

It is remarkably quiet here.  No ceremonies that I can find locally.  In Belgium we had wreath laying at all the memorials and military ceremonies as well as fly pasts.

  • Hello all!

Just walking to the shop for supplies...  it's a bit parky today so a hot scone would go down a treat, thanks Dove!  image

Can't stand still long enough to catch up.  Hope you're all well and happy  image

  • There have been church services around Norwich - the British Legion parades etc and the laying of wreaths will take place on Sunday.  I can't believe it's two years since we took Pa to the parade to pay his respects for the last time and place a cross for his brother.  image

They look wonderful Dove! I do miss my baking efforts. Saturday will involve filling the house with brick dust as we cut in for the electrical channels. Sunday his lordship is having a man day with a friend so will no doubt see me once again spending the day trying to remove said dust.

I'm trying to find something that the dog and I can do away from the house. This rather restricts me to walkies. I could desperately do with getting some more clothes (I'm down to having to very carefully monitor the washing to avoid running out). Wont be Meadowhell that's for sure! Where I used to live there was a wonderful farmers store that I got all my clothes from. Hard wearing and able to without the punishment my clothes take. Alas I haven't found one up here! :( I mean... who designs jeans that don't withstand engine oil / paint / mucky fingers ??

Looks like I'm alone in the museum on Monday: think I'll bring the dog with me to protect me from any muppets. I've also a brownie group coming over in the evening (and thankfully some volunteers) so it will save me having to rush back to take him out for a walk before battling the traffic back into the city centre.
