Glad to see you're making new friends BL.

    Devon.
  • First frost! I haven't ventured down to the greenhouse yet to see how my babies did in their bubble wrap cloche.

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning but hoping a nice long 'to do' list of gardening chores will perk me up. Unfortunately it includes one of my least favourite jobs, and one that should have been done at least a month ago. I've got to turn my compost heaps... Just hoping there's no wildlife sheltering in there (why it should have been done earlier) but it really does need doing image

Have a good day all x

I hope you feel better soon Thankthecat.

It's lovely and sunny outside and the lamb is filling the kitchen with the fragrance of Rosemary and garlic. I'm having brekkies, slice of toast.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Tomatoes on toast again for me this morningimage.  Thats it now, tomatoes over.  Going to empty the GH today and make room for some of the things that like to be a bit cosier over the winter.

Very frosty out there this morning.  Waiting for a bit of a thaw before I get out there. ❄️❄️❄️

The Vendée Globe racers leave today and are already processing out of the yacht basin with much pzazz and hooting of horns.   OH is watching it on TV thru a website on his PC.  Great pictures and good reporting so far with all sorts of info on techniques and winds.   We planned to go and find a bit of coast nearer this end of the start line and take a picnic but it's raining.  5 weeks of dry and now we get rain.   Now that I am 27 I am not a wet picnic girl.   We'll see.

Have fun with the new friends Busy.  The lamb sounds gorgeous.   We have invited our neighbours on either side for lunch in 2 weeks' time but have to wait for the gendarme to confirm his shifts.  He works 4 nights on and 2 off so that he can be there and awake in the pms to help his wife with their handicapped daughter.   The other neighbours are beef farmers and free any day they don't have their grandkids.   Now to decide whether to do British or Belgian cuisine.

I have a slab of belly pork soaking in brine - Tom Kerridge recipe - for tonight's dinner and expect lots of lovely crackling but it's an experiment and not the sort of thing I can feed to the French first time out.

Cat - hope you perk up.    Chicky - frost already?   You'll soon warm up once you get going.

Brightening up to the west so better see about that picnic, just in case.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all, No frost here last night.  It turned a bit windy yesterday so a lot of autumn leaves blowing around. Garden still looking good, especially the roses, they are unbelievable for November.

Had an upset tummy yesterday, no idea why but that, coupled with the number of times I had to climb the stairs must have done the diet good.  Since coming off hols I have lost 1stone 6lbs so really pleased.  Would like to get up to 2stone by Christmas.

Morning all - lovely day at the moment but weather forecast suggests that may change soon.

Itching to get out and 'do stuff' in the garden but I'm not allowed to walk over the grass other than to move sprinklers / turn tap on etc so I need to be patient - I'm not very good at thatimage

I quite like turning compost TTC but also don't like the thought of finding wildlife nesting in there.

Lamb sounds lovely BL - if OH was here I could have done roast pork with apples and quinces.

Lovely roses Yvie - do you know the name of the top one? That colour could work well in a new spot next to deep purple salvias...

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
