Good morning all ☕️ I hope everyone had as lovely a day as we did yesterday … MIL stayed with us all day rather than go back and eating at her rather lovely hotel … the big cockerel was tasty and moist, the potatoes were crispy, the parsnips and carrots were sweet and buttery and the stuffing, bread sauce and gravy were just as they should be …. we’re joining her there this afternoon and will stay for dinner. I wonder what Boxing Day dinner will be there … don’t suppose it’ll be leftovers and pickles 😂 My coffee maker is still asleep … I think I’ll tiptoe down and make my own …. 🤫

We've enjoyed some lovely food here and managed to 'play happy families' for a day or so. I'm ready to go back home now though, as is Charlie, but we've been slightly pushed/coerced into going ice skating, which will then obviously involve lunch out.... planning the escape, always so difficult.
You feel sorry for his dad leaving him on his own, but it's not our fault he hasn't a friend in the world. Thank goodness I'm back at work tomorrow, a much easier excuse to leave.
Hope everyone continues to have a lovely time.
Certainly think the diet needs to start very soon. !

Glad it went well @D0rdogne_Damsel … my suggestion is to enjoy the skating and lunch, but to plan ahead to leave directly after the lunch … that’s a natural fixed punctuation point … pack and load your car beforehand so that it’s a fait accompli ( 🤔 do the French have faits accompli?) 😉

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Just a quick reminder to those with children/grandchildren - the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures For Children begin today. The first one is on BBC4 at 8pm (if this is too late then it can, of course, be watched at any time with iplayer). The word is that this year the subject is artificial intelligence.
Have a great Boxing Day / St. Stephen's Day folks.

Happy Boxing Day to you all. Just seen daughter and youngest g/son off on their journey to Sussex, dont forget to give them a wave if you catch sight of them on the M4, 25 and 23 - little white Alfie the Audie who is sagging under the weight of Christmas presents, carriers of food, pillows and duvets and one small dog! As for me, another coffee is being consumed, listening to the blessed silence surrounding me after the last few days - oooops, the remaining two dogs are out barking at something, better go and check. Have a lovely day folks.
good advice from Dove @D0rdogne_Damsel. thanks for the tip @Badly_Maintained, we always watch the lectures. I am not sure how much I will understand tonight though 🤯
In the afternoon we are going to see some friends for tea and nibbles. Have all a resting Boxing Day.
Good morning everyone, glad to see what a good day everyone had We survived our campaign very well, SD and GC's came a bit earlier and were very helpful, so grandma could direct operations . GC's stayed overnight , I think they sense that tradition may end soon as they make their way into the wider world. We just have to extract them mow so we can get to other SD'S for boxing day lunch. My hand recovered miraculously ( no doubt aided by a sonic massage and ibuprofen) but the pain seems to have move to elbow and up the back of my arm. Just had to make sure I lifted anything heavy with both hands. Have a good day all.
AnnaB,are they going to east or west Sussex? Happy to give them a wave. Yesterday went well (in the main) eldest daughter and son... don't see much of him. I want to share a picture he put on the Christmas card. I thought it was so funny. He was the only family member who hadn't met ruby,or been aware, she does the border collie stance, none of our others ever did. She loved him, which was a relief,he has a big bushy beard, and Luna our other BC decided she didn't like men with beards . (When she was a puppy) Just getting the washing up to date,as the forecast is dire. Might take the dogs on the beach and listen to the Band. Hope everyone has a good day.
