Another month has flown by and here we are in December, looking ahead to seasonal celebrations in communities across the world … some of us will have lively festive times with family and friends … others may have quieter and more reflective times.

As always, for a new month we have a new Forkers thread and all are welcome here to say hello and chat about the bits and bobs of life in friendship and good company … our sofas are comfy, the kettle is always on, our shoulders are broad and our hearts are warm … so when you need respite from the hurly burly of the festivities and a quiet corner to eat mince pies, cake or cheese and share peace and goodwill, you can make yourself at home here …

Good Morning all and thank you @Dovefromabove for starting our December chat off with your warm and welcoming words🎄

I’m bracing myself for the minus 2 outside… take care all, particularly if you have this cold snap.

Thanks for the December page Dove. It’s hard to believe that we are almost to the end of the year.

It takes us nearly half an hour to drive to town for shopping. Our village doesn’t have a shop of any kind. Just a village Hall, and  a couple of churches. The primary school was closed a few years ago and is now someone’s family home. 😒

    Good morning to you all!

A lovely introduction as usual @Dovefromabove   December!!  The year has gone by with astonishing rapidity!!

I hope the driveway gets laid today @Lizzie27

Many happy returns of the day to you @Hostafan1

Seems Blighty is in a cold snap so you'd better wear your studded shoes!!  Mind how you go!

The final expression for the year:  Quand Saint Eloi a bien froid
Quatre mois dure le grand froid.

Could be a cold winter for you this year.  We are "expecting" rain today.  In what quantity I have no idea - but whatever will be welcome.

May your day be peaceful and happy.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • Enjoy your warm and sunny birthday @Hostafan1 🎂 🏖

thank you Dove, you are the kindest host!

Very cold here too and this morning I have aqua-gym 🥶.

Happy birthday to @Hostafan1 and may your return be not too shocking given the temperatures.

Once again we all offer our thanks to @Dovefromabove for introducing us to yet another month - I swear that the months are getting shorter and passing more quickly as the time passes, it is quite frightening isn't it?
@Pat E we are also half an hour's drive from our local town but we do have a wonderful small shop in the village - run by the local folk themselves, it sells everything you could possibly want to survive and never ran out of anything all through covid when the big supermarkets were showing a lot of empty shelves.
Another frozen morning here but at least that horrid biting wind seems to have dropped thank goodness.
Happy Birthday @Hostafan1 hope you have a lovely day - will the locals bake you a cake?

    Morning all.

I've moved back into our bedroom. OH's bronchitis is on the mend.

Frosty and sunny outside. Met Office says 50% chance of snow at 9am. BBC says sunny periods. It's 9am now.

    Happy birthday @Hostafan1.

Maybe today I'll write some Christmas cards.

Tonight we are going to a friends of the church cocktail party, at least I am, don't think OH is up to it yet. Will wear jeans and a thick jumper, the room isn't the warmest.

No snow here @Dovefromabove. It's sunny, blue sky, fluffy white clouds. I wonder if your snow is going north or south?
