Actually @Lizzie27 she has to be at work by 5am so is up around 3am to drink her coffee, have a shower and let the dogs out and get to work - half an hour away. Luckily this is only three days a week but she is pretty tired and sleep deprived by the third day. She does get home by 3pm usually but then has to load up our quad with hay to cart across the fields (plus the excited dogs) to feed our elderly miniature horses who now live as a 'feral' herd on our land. I always feel rather guilty as the horses have always been my lifetime work but sadly I am just too old now to be able to care for them. I just take the occasional quad trip, in good weather, out to see them and stop for a chat over past times as they all gather round to say hello.
Good news about your brother and well done to your nephew.

The weather is a bit strange. Sort of coolish/warmish, but feels like it might rain. I went out and picked more strawberries - in between trying not to swallow flies 😳, without success as it happens, and had to come in and have a cough and swallow of water until my throat settled down. 🙈   I’ll have to remember to wear my net head cover next time.   A nice haul though.

Also, I found a cute little robin with a broken neck below the veranda. It must have flown into one of the windows. 🥲

    Good morning all!

A chilly start this morning with a light frost on the ground.  It was certainly chilly when I biked home at 7.30pm last night after my dance exercises.  Probably not a good idea to go out in such cold after exercising!!  Still I am well wrapped up in my Nepalese trekking gear and it's only a 5-minute ride to the house.

Poor wee birdie @Pat E  I hope it didn't know what happened!!  I can smell those lovely strawberries!!

I hope your brother is now in better accommodation @Lizzie27
How are you both feeling @punkdoc ?   You need to get well enough in case your op comes up!!

OOOh!  I had a pupil called Ambroise - such an old name - poor kid!!  And so today is his day:
Quand Saint Ambroise voit neiger, de dix-huit jours de froid nous sommes en
                  danger!!

As long as it is sunny and no wind, I can handle a bit of cold weather!

May your day be peaceful and happy.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️  Lovely strawberries  @Pat E  … a shame about the little bird … very different to our robins … yours looks like a type of finch?

Looks like a dull and damp day here today.

Good morning and good afternoon @Pat E. That is a sad sight, there are stickers especially designed to put off birds. I have them and - fingers crossed - the sudden thud on the window is a thing of the past.
Your daughter has a tough routine @AnnaB, it must be nice to have her close by, aside from the useful stuff she does for you.
Oh @punkdoc just water for four days? I hope you can get to eat something soon. Are you vomiting as well? In my last bout of covid I lost some weight even if did not go off food, so please get something down. Dry toast maybe.
@AuntyRach you left the most difficult to the last! 😆

Grey skies again but frost is over for the moment, we have a week of rain coming in. Meh.

    Take care all.

Yes, I feel awful about the little bird. I was hoping to nurse it back to life, but I was too late. 🥲. I’m not sure without checking my bird books Dove, so I’m not sure which species it is.

The strawberries are really sweet. Could have done without the fly down my throat though. 🥶
