Oh dear, @Dovefromabove, that doesn't sound great. Hopefully the repair man will be able to sort it. We use a well known white goods online supplier who were very quick to deliver when our tumbler dryer broke down during Covid and our washing machine broke down a couple of months ago. Can PM the name if you wish.

We're more relaxed now having rested, eaten, drunk wine and enjoyed the last episode of Portillo's Andalucian series. Spanish sunshine looked very inviting.

Good to have a party invite @D0rdogne_Damsel, something to look forward to. Glad the big lunch went off alright.

    Bedtime for me I think.

    Good morning Forkers

incredibly busy (for us) last few days: In 4 days I have been to 4 concerts. I never knew how beautiful Benjamin Britten carols are. Listening again on utube at the moment.

Not much happening otherwise, backache/hip ache still there. Will see doc tomorrow to ask if there is anything I can do aside from exercise. I am a tad worried about my back as Friday we are going to Amsterdam. On the way up we are stopping in Maastricht for Spec Savers reasons and then catch a train for the rest of the journey which is a lot more comfortable; but the way back is all coach. It will be lovely to see the newly weds again and how the restructuring work on their flat is going.

    Take care all of you!

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️
Yes please @Lizzie27 that might be helpful … the online firm we used for the washing machine were worse than useless … disconnecting the old machine then refusing to take it and dumping the new one in the middle of the kitchen even tho we’d paid all the extra for connecting it up etc  … if you recall it was shortly after my son had come out of hospital and life was difficult enough as it was … we had to call upon the kindness of a builder we’d known some ten years ago to come and help us.  Don’t want to be faced with that again. I’d rather manage without and use the hob than have the stress of that at Christmas 😰

    Morning all.

Off to finish my Xmas shopping today - only 2 gifts to buy now as we’ve slimmed-down on presents in the family (phew). Need to shift a headache first… hope it’s not germs.

I hope everyone is doing ok despite weather, illness, broken ovens and general December fatigue.

    Morning all.

I hope your oven is sorted out in time for Christmas @Dovefromabove. Things always seem to go wrong at a bad time.

Nothing exciting happening for us today. Going to the SM later.

Tomorrow is the opera dinner night and I'll wear my new evening dress and faux fur jacket.

  • Thanks folks … don’t worry about us, we’ll manage whatever … this year has proved what is really important … and MIL is treating us to a marvellous Boxing Day Dinner at Dunstan Hall so we won’t miss out 😃
    Have a lovely evening @Busy-Lizzie 😎

@coccinella … glad you enjoyed the carols …  I love Britten’s music … I’ve been to his Ceremony of Carols several times over the years and am always entranced.

  • Morning all,

Hope your oven doesn't prove to be too serious @Dovefromabove, of course you'll manage without, but it's a bother isn't it, not having it there.

I envy you both @coccinella and @Busy-Lizzie being able to get to concerts, there's really not much on offer here, there was one Carol Concert I would have enjoyed but it clashes with me doing that buffet last weekend.

My gentleman friend has invited me to a live streaming of a ballet from London on the 28th December, but I'm a bit concerned of the mixed message  it sends if I accept, especially since it would involve sitting a dark cinema for two hours or more. I might suggest we ask others we know to accompany us.... It's not everyone's cup of tea though and is a bit pricey , we'll see.

Fed up with the incessant rain.  I'm hosting a Children's Cupcake Workshop this afternoon, trying to get motivated for it. Hopefully when the music starts and the excitable children arrive I'll feel better about it. I do come up with some daft ideas sometimes. 😅🙄 We don't make any money, it's just a sort of marketing event.

Anyway, I must pull myself together and get organised, really not in the mood. I do have days like this and then other times I'm fine, very frustrating. Can't decide whether to join a dating site, but when I think too much about it I'm not sure it's a good idea. I don't think I want the hassle of a partner, but just a good friend/companion. All very complicated. Think a few new year's resolutions might be in order...

Many years ago when the kids were still very young the electricity went off around midday on Christmas Day. So no roast until Boxing Day. And you know what? It was lovely, candles and cuddles with chocolate and cake on the sofa. Lovely memories.

But I wish you a functioning oven ASAP @Dovefromabove 😊

I do hope you can get the oven sorted @Dovefromabove.  Just so you don't have to use more energy falling back on your seemingly limitless resourcefulness.

Is it The Nutcracker you were invited to @D0rdogne_Damsel?  It was broadcast in our local theatre last night but I couldn't get tickets so I would urge you to accept!  I'm sure your gentleman friend wouldn't be so forward as to try anything.

Now listening to Britten's carols on YouTube @coccinella, so thanks for that!

Christmas cards all done and stamped.  In time for 2nd class post thank heavens.
