  • One of the longest and hardest days ever, but all good. Two key members of staff away for a busy weekend, but the " B - Team smashed it". I'm so proud of all of my team, what a wonderful thing we have going on here.Ā

Only disappointing thing was that of the 35 firefighters that arrived for 'Afternoon Tea', 17 of them were firefighter's wives.......šŸ˜…

Very much enjoyed SCD this evening, it may be tosh, but it's very inspiring tosh. 😁

Morning everyone. I won’t bother telling you all what the temp is outside. Ā Better to ignore it. šŸ˜
it’s our son’s birthday tomorrow. He is on duty so we won’t see him until Christmas Day when he comes down and our daughter and grandson also arrive for lunch. Ā Busy period for everyone.Ā

How lovely to have a family get together to look forward to, @Pat E. Hope it’s not too hot! Quite mild here tonight. We’ve both woken up at 3am, I had a bad dream, and OH had a fancy for some toast just before lights out, and is still feeling rather full. We are having a cup of tea before we try getting back to sleep.Ā
Im starting to worry about Christmas food, not so much Christmas Day itself, I read of someone saying that the best thing about Christmas is that you don’t have to think about what to cook! Luckily we all love turkey. It’s the other meals if our daughter and son in law stay for a few days. I must resist the temptation to fill the house with loads of stuff that won’t get eaten, but on the other hand, I don’t want to have to be rushing out to the shops. At least there will be some shops open. I remember the days when, if you didn’t have what you needed by Christmas Eve, that was it for at least two days, or longer if a Sunday was involved. And when they reopened, half the shelves were empty. Now I’m sure we can pop out to stock up on Easter Eggs on Boxing Day!Ā
It’s my grandsons birthday today, but we won’t see him till Christmas week.

  • Good morning all 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
It’s 8C, still and dry here in Norfolk and all is quiet … the coffee-maker is still in the Land of Nod … I may have to tiptoe down and make my own coffee …

No idea what time son got in from a Christmas Do at a friend’s art centre, but his car is on the drive and there’s a peaceful ā€˜heavy breathing coming from his room. He must’ve been very quiet.Ā

Yes @Pat E it’s birthday time of year for us too … OH’s Ā on the 19th and son’s on the 22nd. Only then can we concentrate on Christmas…

    Morning all.

Lovely photos @coccinella. I hope your knee isn't hurting much today.

I'll be back in France late afternoon. Maybe I'll do some Christmas decorating tomorrow. First will be the SM. The shops will be shut today, Sunday, so no milk for tea when I arrive. There is some in the freezer.

Just looked at the security camera of my house that shows outside. It's very frosty. CB said he'd pop in today and light the woodburners.

  • OH is awake and has made our drinks … he has tea and I have coffee … we’ve done Wordle and Artle and are enjoying R3 and watching the gulls wheeling about in the sunshine 😊
He says son arrived home about 10:30 … I must’ve been out like a light šŸ˜†Ā

Morning everybody, it's quite mild today, about 9c so I'm hoping to finish off the rose pruning while I feel in the mood.Ā

What a disappointment @D0rdogne_Damsel - I had visions of you in a frilly prinny and fishnet stockings going 'oh la la'!!! Sexist I know, but sometimes a girl's gotto do what a girl's gotto do. Glad the day went well anyway.

A beautiful display @coccinella. we have visited Amsterdam several times as OH has Dutch friends.

Hope @Busy-Lizzie's plane leaves on time and her journey goes well.

I'm in a quandary too @Ergates as I still don't know whether I've got all the family coming for 2 nights or just my daughter. If they all arrive, we're having two Xmas dinners. I'm doing salmon/cod for the first one on Friday evening with just a chocolate cake and/or fruit salad for afters and then the traditional turkey + veggie option plus all the trimmings for the three of us on Xmas Day. I'm planning to dash out on Saturday to buy two largeĀ  fresh pizzas as I won't have room in the fridge/freezer to get them beforehand. Son has got rugby tickets so he won't want much after a beer or two!

    That's the plan anyway.

Poor @coccinella, hope your knee isn’t too sore. Sounds like you won’t be wearing your festive mini skirt until any scratches and bruises have faded!
The good news is that I have just heard from the children re Christmas visits. Daughter and husband will arrive on Christmas Eve, and son and family will join us all on Boxing Day. Now I can plan the menus for the holiday. Should be rather easier with only three main meals to cater for. The larger turkey crown will do for Christmas Day, with cold leftovers for Boxing Day. I’ve already bought a honey roast ham for a Boxing Day buffet lunch.
Glad you mentioned pizza, @Dovefromabove, I’ll get a couple in, the grandsons will probably prefer those to the other offerings. Plus a big bowl of pigs in blankets! I think I can breathe easy now, won’t take long to get everything under control.Ā
Hope the poorly ones are still improving. Very impressed with your progress, @Nanny Beach. Is the exercise programme that’s been helping you published on line anywhere, or is it one you devised from your long nursing experience? Whichever, it sounds like a useful regime to be aware of.
