Hello everyone. Just noticed that one of my favourite films is on BBC2 this afternoon (2.45pm). If you dont have anything planned do have a look in, such a charming little film about the lovely locals striving to save their local very old fashioned railway. The Titfield Thunderbolt. Mind you the last time I saw it advertised on BBC2, it was cancelled due to the over running of the football - if this happens again I shall register my annoyance with my local MP!! If you are not doing anything and it is on, then enjoy a Sunday afternoon of comfort viewing.

I’ve done about 40 minutes of sweeping leaves off the lawn. One green bin is more than three quarters full, but the lawn doesn’t look any different. I had company from a friendly robin, who found some grubs to eat. There were a terrifying number of beech nuts on the grass. No wonder I keep finding baby beech trees springing up in the garden. We have three pretty mature beech trees just above the lawn, so not surprising. Our woodland has some really old beech trees in it, proper forest stuff. Reminds me of my childhood walks in Epping Forest.

    Hello all.

Howling gales yesterday. A few trees have fallen in Norfolk.

We are having quite a sociable day, starting with church this morning. The church looked wonderful, there is a Christmas tree festival, so it was full of decorated trees, some just decorated prettily, but quite a lot had themes. I think we'll go back one evening after dark for another look when it's lit up. There were strings of plastic sausages on the local butcher's tree and the gardeners club tree was pretty with greenery, flowers and model birds. There was coffee and biscuits and chat after the service.

Then we went to a friend's house for mulled wine, then coffee and a chatter. Her very enthusiastic young spaniel made us laugh but he made OH spill coffee down his clean jumper.

Tonight we are going to friends down the street for dinner. I hope it stops raining as I would rather walk there than drive.

  • Horrible wet morning and early afternoon here. Rain has finally stopped for more than 5 minutes so we nipped up the farm to get our 🎄 tree.  They buy them in rather than grow them but we like to support them.  The tree is sitting in the greenhouse to dry out a bit before we bring it in, probably a bit later in the week.
    Regards to all.

    Good afternoon,

It’s a much calmer day than yesterday afternoon and night turned out to be - it got very wild. Luckily, everything seems to have come through unscathed other than a bottle brush plant I have in a pot which I had to put back upright.
I’m glad I’d secured the door wreath well or I think it might have ended up in the field.

I finished most of the decorations today, I’ve just got the garland to wrap around the staircase banister, but that’s a job for the morning.

Church today was the Christingle service, which was very nice. We’ve brought our Christingle candles home to light up later.

Evening all, apparently we had gale force winds again overnight which I slept right through and it was nice when we woke up but very quickly deteriorated just before I left for my sisters. Not a nice journey, roadworks, diversions, floods and foul weather. Changed over half way when we stopped for coffee because I'd got a bit stressed out.
As soon as OH drove, it stopped raining so hard, less traffic and no hold-ups!

Enjoying catching up with family news with my sister, her twin grand-daughters will be four next Feb - how time flies. Seeing my poorly younger brother tomorrow. Eldest brother is settled into the care home for respite care and seems ok.

Glad you had a nice day @Busy-Lizzie.

Lots of Xmas trees on car roofs today.

One of our favourite films @AnnaB, it was filmed near us in Somerset, many, many years ago.

Right, wine is being poured and the roast dinner is nearly ready. Nive to have somebody else cook for a change, although I did prep the veg.

Didn't know it was filmed in Somerset @Lizzie27, it says distributed in 1953 so pretty dated now.
Glad to hear that you had a good time with your sister inspite of the difficult journey and good news about your eldest brother. Hope your younger brother is feeling a bit better, when you visit. Meanwhile enjoy your wine and the roast meal.

The wind is picking up again here, the next storm system coming by :(

Wrote my Christmas cards today - I don't send many - and have done a little studying for the course I'm trying to do. Shepherds pie for dinner - comfort food for this sort of weather. Might go to bed early - didn't sleep too well last night with all the banging and crashing going on.

Hope you all had a good weekend and the poorly people are perking up

Just flying in to say good night.

People have been busy with various outings and Christmas prep I see. I worked yesterday (so the young-uns could go to a xmas party - crazy golf then ‘refreshments’) so I had a quiet day today. The wind is really picking up again tonight - strange mix of weather this month so far.

Take care all. Loads of germs about so keep your vitamins up folks!

  • The cards have been written and at last some Christmas preparation To Do lists have been started … plus preparations for OH and Son’s birthdays on the 19th and 22nd respectively 🥴

Now to snuggle down  with my book … night night folks … sleep tight … 😴
