My first married Christmas with the now ex aka Wonky’s PapaWomble (we were married in early December) we were living in a mobile home while renovating an old house … we cooked on bottled gas … I’d asked him to make sure we had a spare bottle in case we ran out … we did, halfway through roasting the (very small) turkey … and no … we hadn’t … 😖 🙄

@D0rdogne_Damsel … if it’s something you’d like to see I’d go … if he attempts to take liberties then it’s an opportunity to politely explain that behaviour isn’t welcome … if he’s not happy with that call a cab and leave. A grown woman shouldn’t have to restrict her cinema visits to the company of folk she’d not mind being intimate with.

Very windy but very sunny here. The weather has been very very mild lately. Still no rain.
Backaches are a pain in the back @coccinella There are exercises you can do to relieve the pain but they are back stretching exercises - like (lying on the floor) - knee hugs and gently rolling from side to side on your lumbar part. Gently does it. You can do one knee after the other (stretch out other leg) or both at the same time. Gently and slowly. In fact the slower the better. Glad you enjoyed the concerts.
Enjoy your opera evening @Busy-Lizzie Lovely to get glammed up. I can't cram my feet into high heels anymore unless I practise for about a week. Probably go a over t if I did that!!

I am here, @Dovefromabove, but both of us are still crook, at least I should be losing some weight. Whoever said COVID was just a cold deserves shooting, this has been horrible. Desperately hoping it improves soon, so I can maybe get hip done at Christmas.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@D0rdogne_Damsel said ‘My gentleman friend has invited me to a live streaming of a ballet from London on the 28th December, but I'm a bit concerned of the mixed message it sends if I accept, especially since it would involve sitting a dark cinema for two hours or more. I might suggest we ask others we know to accompany us.... It's not everyone's cup of tea though and is a bit pricey , we'll see. ‘
Are you able to pay for your own ticket? That should give the right message? Or if he has paid for the ticket, offer to buy any drinks in the interval. You have enjoyed each other’s company in the past, so I’d treat him the same way you did before he hinted that he’d like things to go further. I can’t imagine that he’d try anything in a cinema ( I could be wrong!) but if he did, a reminder that you aren’t interested in him in that way should solve the problem. I’m sure he wants to keep you as a friend, and won’t do anything to jeopardise that. I’d definitely skip the on line dating for a while longer. In your shoes, I would be looking to just widen my circle of friends outside work. Good to have a support network, and who knows, you may run into someone with similar interests in the future.
Just realised I never sent the message for @D0rdogne_Damsel. But @Ergates et al have done it better than me, so I cancelled mine. Go to the cinema, pay your ticket and leave immediately if he tries anything stupid. But he won't I am sure.

Interesting. There's a similar proverb in Italy. I always thought the winter solstice was the start of longer days, but lots of people are adamant it is today🤷♀️
Thank you for the exercises. I do try to move as immobility makes it worse. I am going to the doc to ask if this is the start of a future hip replacement risk. The pain radiates from the lower back to the groin and hips but not all the time.
Currently stunned and delighted with today’s events. I’ve been suffering from headaches for a week, only really start in the evening, but spreading up over my scalp, and didn’t get any relief from paracetamol. Last night, it was really bad, and I took myself to bed early. Woke in the night with one arm numb, assumed I’d been lying on it funny! Woke this morning with headache still there, and my hand going to sleep again. ( assumed it was the way I was holding my iPad ) I decided to put my symptoms into the NHS 111 website, and alarmed to get the instruction to contact GP immediately, or go to one of three very inconveniently located Walk in Centres. I managed to get through to our practice after a very short wait on the phone, and after a few more details, I was promised a phone call this morning. Doctor called back at 11.15, asked a few more questions and got me to do a few ‘manoeuvres’, and after asking if I was free this morning, told me to come straight down to the practice. Didn’t know whether to be pleased or terrified! Seen within five minutes of arriving at the surgery. Checked out for any specific worrying signs and symptoms, and reassured that it is probably pinched nerves in my neck and nothing more sinister. However, he has taken blood to check that everything is normal there, and referred me for an X-ray of my neck. I was very impressed to say the least! I’d been expecting to spend most of the day trying to get through on the phone, and maybe an appointment in January. Couldn’t have had better service. Have stocked up on the recommended ibuprofen ( which doesn’t usually work on me, but I’ll give it a go) and hope the blood test results come back as normal. Phew!

@tui34, my mother's second name was Lucille, but everybody called her Lucy.
