Ergates, there are breathing exercises online. If you look up that or long Covid. The spirometers didn't come with any charts, but you put in your age/weight/height it tells you what you should be able to blow. Online says walk 5 minutes a day, increasing by 5 minutes each time. I did 15, increasing by 15. Kept on like this. We have the 2 dogs, ruby is now 20 weeks. We walk along the beach at Eastbourne going towards Beachy Head, path, steps back to the road, get higher and steeper. There are 2 prom levels, I would get halfway up one, stop, for breath, then the whole of one, then the steps right to the top at Hollywell, then this week the 100 steps up the cliff. I had the appointment by phone with the cardiologist, then an echo, I can't understand them these days, way more sophisticated. Haven't had the review, but no more breathlessness or angina, so I carried on doing more and more. We do an evening walk,if hubby comes with take both dogs, the other one is 8, with arthritis. 2 dogs and a torch and sometimes a "pick up" is too difficult.Â
Thatâs really useful to know, although I think most of the improvement has been due to your determination, Nanny Beach. Well done. Hope good results come back from the tests. Just starting my meal list for the weekend. I might dig out last years diary, and see what I fed people then. Donât want to do too many repeats, although maybe thatâs what the family like. I donât mind having the grandsons growing up with happy memories of âgrannyâs trifleâ or something similar. My children still have horrid memories of the peas my mother would serve them. Tinned processed peas, heated through in the oven. Lead shot comes to mind!
Lovely pictures @coccinella, not good news that you had a trip up, hope your knee is not too painful. Guess you are not home yet @Busy-Lizzie, hopefully you will find the house nice and warm when you arrive. @Nanny Beach, so pleased to hear that things are improving for you at long last, mostly due to your hard work and determination I think. Talking about birthdays, Xmas time is not good for us. As I said, daughter's was the 14th, her cousin's was yesterday, another close friend is the 22nd, then I come next on the 27th and g/son follows on the 28th (must also add that one of the dogs covers the 24th, mustn't leave him out!) ps. You wont believe this but my parents got married on Boxing Day - what were they thinking of?? At least sensible g/daughter and youngest g/son waited for March to put in an appearance. Expensive time of year for us right now.
Hello from France. I got back to a warm house, CB had lit the wood burners this morning and then came back this afternoon to put more logs on them. I had trouble opening the front door to the kitchen shutter. I unlocked it but it's wooden and had swelled with all the rain there had been. Luckily I had the key to the utility room door so I could get in. I unlocked the kitchen door and kicked the shutter open! I've got milk and bread out of the freezer. The drive home was uneventful, the car started first go.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Just a quick hello from me. We've been busy with preparations for next week. Some American family are coming on Wednesday, staying with SD but we might be doing airport pickup if SIL can't get away from work. Tree is decorated at last, the cleaning and tidying is ongoing. Best wishes to everyone.Â
Evening all, Â Welcome home @Busy-Lizzie, glad you're safely in and warm.Â
Everyone seems to be fairly organised for the festivities, religious or not I think it's a much needed break from long dark winter days and a time to get together with friends and family and indulge a little.Â
Always a tricky time for me, hardly any family and certainly none in France, it's me and Charlie and his dad, whom I prefer not to spend time with. Juggling act begins Christmas Eve, I've said I'll cook a Christmas dinner and stay at his dad's house so we can open presents Christmas morning. Then Charlie and I are going to a restaurant with friends for Christmas Lunch, ( his dad is not invited/welcome). I've left Christmas day night open, I can stay at Charlie's dad's or go home, I'd be happy to watch a bit of TV with a box of chocolates either there or home alone and Boxing Day I've left open so far.....to be honest I'll just be glad of a rest.Â
Been baking for days, and still more to do. Some pics.... And @punkdoc pick your favourite and I'll send it virtually over. xxx

Oh, forgot to say, Charlie has bought his 1st suit....he's planning a lot of occasions to wear it. Not a brilliant photo , it's a lovely navy colour, I'm not sure about the narrow legs but apparently that's all the rage, as is the floppy fringe. đ

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Best wishes to everyone.Â
