Hello Forkers, I keep my fingers crossed for Punkdoc, I feel for him,my brush with breathlessness for a few months was enough. Back in October, I went into the kitchen and decided to peel a carrot, would you believe I couldn't. I was so weak from the Covid, I couldn't stand there, never mind use the peeler..had to go and lay on the sofa.
Welcome to the Winter solstice for those of you that celebrate it today (22nd), it was actually at 3.27am this morning I'm told so as usual being awake at that time I was able to say welcome 'in person'. The thought that the days will slowly be getting longer is indeed a welcome one. I am seeing lots of good news in the posts from yesterday - punkdocks op going ahead, Dove has now got a working oven, D.Damsel has had a day entirely to herself, others have been making successful trips to the shops for Christmas supplies and houses have been prepared for expected visitors. What a busy lot you are! Daughter has been shopping for two households because our Christmas day will be divide (as usual). She will be off over to her ex's in the morning to cook the dinner for him and g/son - I wont go due to my health not for any other reason - then she and g/son will return here in the afternoon and we will all have a reduced Christmas evening meal and do 'presents' by ourselves. On Boxing day she and g/son are off down to Sussex for a week to visit, stay with, and celebrate with all the family there. I stay home alone and enjoy the peace and quiet! @Nanny Beach I know exactly what you mean when you posted about trying to peel a carrot, for me making a cup of tea is a major operation, as for preparing something to eat, well any vegetable/preparation work has to be divided into 5 to 10 minute slots with rest breaks - I have become brilliant at quick nourishing meals - and a chair in the kitchen is not only welcome it is an essential. Long covid has a lot to answer for but three years of this is way beyond a yoke. Apologise, didn't mean to rant, there's many a lot worse off in the world just now. Stay safe folks, lets not have any unexpected accidental happenings before the celebrations start.
Ooops forgot to send very Happy Birthday wishes to Dove's son Rob, a very special man who has been an inspiration to us all over most of the past year. Have a wonderful day Rob and all the best for 2024.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ … looking forward to the Solstice Sunrise and some brighter days 🌞
Thank you everyone for your kind birthday wishes for my son. I think he’s planning a quiet day at home before meeting friends at a new cafe/wine bar down in @didyw ‘s neck of the woods.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
A very very windy week this week - Tramontane at its full force. Part of a wooden fence has come down. And where to get a builder at this time of year and probably impossible to repair in the teeth of this wind!
A shout out to @punkdoc Bonne chance for the 28th! A Happy Belated Birthday to your OH @Dovefromabove and a Happy Birthday evening for Rob. I'm sure he won't let us down!! Bad news for @WonkyWomble but good that the bank will honour the theft. Glad you are feeling a bit chipper @Nanny Beach Seems the hospital situation in the UK is at its lowest @AuntyRach and accessibility for reduced mobility patients is bad here too.
I have an early drs appointment this morning just for a repeat prescription that a receptionist f****ed up on Tuesday morning - seems my dr didn't get the message and now I have to go down. I have many last minute bibs and bobs to do as well!! Sheesh!!
Bon courage to you all with your Christmas preparations today!!
We had an exciting day. Hubby had to make a quick exit from Aldi shopping this morning as a sneaky fart turned out to be a little gastric surprise.😳😁. I was left in the shop with the trolley of shopping. He decided to have a quick trip home to change and then after a quick wash and change, back into town for collecting the pharmacy scripts and Woolworths to finish the shopping (which was just Christmas treats for Monday). 🙈
By the time we’d done all that, I suggested a wrap from McDonalds before coming home. It was really tasty and once home, flopped with my sudoku puzzles while he snored on the lounge. 😏
I couldn’t get back to sleep so got up, pottered about in the kitchen then made a cup of tea and here I am whilst I drink it.
Lots to do today - collect the meat from the butcher, collect prescriptions, finish ironing (meant to do that yesterday, but never mind), make the cranberry sauce - a quick recipe so won’t take long, then I can put my feet up (I think 😂).
I sincerely hope the op goes ahead on the 28th @punkdoc 🤞🤞.
It seems as if some of you are struggling with the after effects of having covid - I do hope you will soon feel much stronger and that long covid sails off into the sunset.
Oh dear @Pat E, poor Mr Pat E 😲. Not the kind of surprise one wants 😧.

@WonkyWomble hoping you get reimbursement in time for Christmas.
