    Good afternoon everyone.

The company arrived yesterday evening. This morning by the time we had breakfast, cleaned up, had a coffee in the village square - in the sun - but well-covered - 2 dogs - trudged home in time to make some tortellini for lunch with salad.   Rest this afternoon and I am preparing the Tataki fish while they have gone to the beach with the dogs!

It is traditional down here to have a light meal of fish on Christmas Eve.  I have made M. Berry's Salmon Terrines as an entree on a lettuce bed.  Risotto.  Cheese. Wine.

It is so lovely to see my family.

Thank you @Badly_Maintained for your kind regards which I send back to you with warmest ones for an enjoyable day tomorrow.

Can I come for battered fish @Busy-Lizzie ? I just love fish and chips crunchy and crispy!!

May you all have an enjoyable evening.  No stress uh?  @Ergates ??

Note to self:  Take red cabbage out of freezer!!

Oo it’s all go on here!
I’m enjoying reading all the posts.

I’ve done my good deeds of delivering presents to family and work and checked on Dad. I’m home now and opened the festive biscuits 🍪 to munch on whilst the ham cooks. We’ll have a similar supper to Dove’s.

Have a lovely evening everyone 🎄

Prawn risotto for supper here, we are just arguing about who is going to cook it.

Badly _Maintained,all the best to you, thank you for the kind words. I hope things will improve. Inspirational, I think Doves son Rob,fits the bill! You would imagine after 34 years,my hubby would know my portion sizes! He did a brunch at 11.30, I said now, I think I will have a glass of port and slice of Yule log. Well,my port went in a wine glass, and bearing in mind I had the first slice of the Yule log, thick with icing,I managed a 3rd of it!

Evening all, After such a busy day yesterday with all my family, today's been quieter and we had a lie in. Son wasn't late in last night although his team won the rugby match and as soon as I heard him come in the front door, I went straight off to sleep. Isn't funny how you worry about children when they are under your roof no matter how old they are but not so much when you don't know what they are doing - if that makes sense.
I had to do a quick top up shop this morning as they ate much more than I anticipated yesterday. You soon get out of the habit of providing large meals when there are only the two of you.
I think I'm ready now, the turkey's defrosting in the porch, the veg is prepped, cooker prepared and last year's timing schedule has been dug out and stuck to the kitchen tiles.
It's been hammering down with rain all day so my son escaped his gardening job I'd got lined up for him - I need some rockery stones shifted to the front of the house but they can wait. I also wanted to pot up my new rose which will also have to wait.

@Badly_Maintained So sorry to hear of your parents ill-health, rotten luck to happen at Christmas, hope a meeting can be re-arranged when your mother is better and that you can organise some Christmas cheer for yourself.

Don't think I could face salmon for breakfast @AnnaB but we're having smoked salmon for a starter for the main meal. Must remember to cook daughter's vegetarian version!

Love your post @Dovefromabove, I've always thought there was far too much fuss made about Christmas lumch, it's only a roast dinner with perhaps some special options.

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone and may any culinary mishaps not spoil the fun!

Well, that was Christmas Day for us. It was a lovely get together with the children. Our daughter and grandson have returned to Canberra, and our son is spending extra time with us. Very nice. 😁

  • Happy Christmas @Pat E glad you've had a lovely time. 🎄

I've a friend that has advised me once that whatever is stressing me will always be over soon enough, your post about Christmas being done with sort of proves that. 😉

    Have a good day all.

Merry Christmas and Good Morning all!!

A roast dinner - basically.  Just have to fit everything into the oven!  Roast vegetables and green beans for us.  No brussels - maybe cheese but definitely Christmas pud for dessert.

Enjoy the day and the moment spent with family.
