I had a lovely Christmas, despite being without OH (He's in Eastbourne with his daughter and grandchildren @Nanny Beach), thanks to Son 2, his lovely French wife and the 5 littlies.
There were lots of presents, but they weren't all big or expensive, just fun to open and exciting for the children. I got a lovely pair of soft leather gloves, winter slippers (I've been looking for a comfy pair, glad I didn't find any!), hand cream, chocolate hazelnuts, a gardeners' calendar and some other things.
We had a delish tartare of salmon with avocado, mango, pomegranate seeds and a lime dressing, then fillet steaks done on the BBQ, Yorkshire pudding and a selection of vegetables. Chocolate mousse for pud. Champagne to start, then Châteauneuf du Pape. In the afternoon the youngest went to bed for a sleep, they had been up very early. Son went for a muddy bike ride and 2 grandsons and I watched The Great Escape. It's almost like the cinema as Son projects the films onto a big white wall in the sitting room.
We will be celebrating all over again on Thursday. My 3 other children will be coming with their families. Son 2 has a large dormitory bedroom in the loft conversion where all the children sleep. Daughter 2 and I will go home in the afternoon as we don't live too far away.
I've enjoyed reading about your Christmasses.
I also enjoy hearing about @AnnaB's horses as I had horses for many years of my life, but not a stable yard full! I started with a New Forest pony when I was 11 and we moved to the countryside. The most I've had at once is 4, but one was my daughter's.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Glad everyone seems to be ok. I’m tired but happy. Off to bed in a minute, will leave daughter and son in law to play another game of Bananagrams and finish the bottle of wine. All went well with the food. Had a great time with my two grandsons, getting very grown up but still happy to give Granny a cuddle! Will catch up with you all tomorrow. sleep well.
We managed to extract ourselves yesterday, finally, we've done our bit, we managed to make the best of it but enough was enough. Enjoyed a peaceful evening at home with Charlie, back to work this morning.
@punkdoc, imagine what you would say to one of your own patients in the situation.... Thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Good day to all.

Big hugs to @punkdoc … my thoughts are, you’ve made your decision, you were fine last time, you trust your medical team … you know that they know what you’re doing … but the most important of all those things is the first … you’ve made your decision 👍
You also know that you’ll have a whole horde of gardeners rooting for you (see what I did there? 😉) and looking forward to sharing news of seedlings in your greenhouse this spring 🌱 🌱 🌱
Looks as if I’m going to have to make my own coffee again this morning … my OH is still sleeping soundly and ignoring my rumbling tum … anyone else ready for a cuppa …?
