Boo Iāve forgotten bread sauce and donāt have cloves or nutmeg to make from scratch. Iāll see if Sis has any of those spices when I pop round tomorrow. Iām not going into a SM just for that.
Oh dear, @Busy-Lizzie! When did you realise it was the wrong day? Hopefully before you left home, or was there an embarrassing moment on the friendās doorstep?Ā
Im certainly not going out again for the red cabbage or bread sauce mix. I might have a trial run of making my own in the morning, I hadnāt thought of adding bay leaves, but itās too dark now to go out and plunder the huge shrub in the garden. Itās at the top of a very steep slope, and there is every chance Iād end up in the bog garden and probably remain there until OH finally notices that Iām missing. I haven't done my master lists yet, but most of the other jobs are well in hand. OH was given the task of wrapping the tree presents, he hasnāt actually started yet, and usually runs out of steam by early evening. Looks like the usual last minute panic tomorrow.Ā
I am sipping spiced mulled wine š· which has perfumed the whole of the house. You are a busy lot, how lovely to read about your cooking adventures. I am not busy at all this year, tomorrow night we are going to friends and Christmas day it is just us. I am OK with it, listening to music and sipping wine, this morning we even went to the pool, the jacuzzi was all to ourselves! The rest of Luxembourg must have been in the supermarkets. I am going to make a cheese cake later which will sit in the fridge overnight.Ā
Just just messaged daughter, and sheās bringing me some cloves from her spice rack! Iād better read up on making bread sauce again. OH has started on the present wrapping, although I had to find him a sticky tape dispenser. Couldnāt cope with trying to find the carefully camouflaged end on the roll. IĀ have planned and bought dinner for tomorrow, but hadnāt made any plans for a light lunch in case our visitors get here early. Better have something in mind in case they donāt stop for food en route.Ā
Personally @Ergates I infuse milk with an onion with lots of cloves... At least twenty! And a bay leaf.... Take the cloves out but finely chop the onion and add to the mix after breadcrumbs are in.... After that.... One shedload of butter.... Yes that is a recognized measurement in this house! Good luck everyone with everything! Have the most wonderful time! š
