It's been horrid today, wet and very windy. I've done very little, apart from book a hotel near Caen for when we return from France in January.

I'm glad the Wonkys and the Punkdocs are recovering.

    I've finished the Christmas cards.

I've never seen a canal with waves, @Lizzie27. I'm glad you had a good lunch.

We were a bit taken aback too @Busy-Lizzie. The pub is only a few yards away from the canal and I was sitting in the bow window watching the wind blow the waves across. The moored narrowboat was bobbing up and down. I did wonder if canals ever flood but OH assures me hardly ever.

I'm too tired and sleepy to do Christmas cards, although I've written a few to take with us tomorrow. I'm hoping the weather will be better.

  • Good evening,  horrible weather last night and all this morning.
Glad to hear  folks are recovering..
Our last green bin collection was today,  and doesn't resume till February,  so much for an annual service.  I  did manage to fill it yesterday as we had a dry morning.  No chance of doing anything today 😕.

Hello everyone. A quiet day so far. I keep having a little giggle. I was getting dressed in the walkthrough wardrobe this morning, when Hubby, who was in the bedroom talking to Pixel and tickling her under the arms, then I stepped out into the room - Pixel must have forgotten that I was there, because she dropped to the floor with such speed that we both cracked up. She’s pretty quick for her age which I think is about 15 or so.  - another giggle.   Her heart must be sound though.

Not sure what to expect from the weather.  We might drive out the back to check if there are fallen trees or branches after the storm on Friday.  Just as well to make sure all is ok.

Thinking of those of you with friends/relatives with sad or worrying news.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️ Amazing storm photos @Pat E 😎

Hope we’ve all have a restful night.

The strong winds of last night have calmed … but we have a pink sky this morning … shepherd’s warning … and the forecast says more rain is on the way.

  • Morning all,

Slow cooked chicken in already and veg all prepped ready for this evening. A busy day at work today, a table of 10 booked for breakfast at 10am, so not gentle start today. Looking forward to watching the SCD results show this evening, no idea how it'll go.

Charlie coming back over here for dinner this evening, he stayed last night and is driving me into work this morning. I don't think I'll let him drive me back tonight, they're very narrow country lanes with no lighting, I think having to think about full beam is a bit too much to add on at this early stage. There shouldn't be much traffic this morning.

Have a good day all, hope you both continue to improve @punkdoc, and hugs to all with worries and stress in their lives. 😘😘😘

Pouring with rain here, very glad we made the effort to get out for a decent walk in yesterday’s sun. Sunday treat of pancakes for breakfast. I’ll put the oven on today (a very rare occurrence since we bought the air fryer) Waitrose bbq pulled pork, with roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. I’ll make a batch of Yorkshires and freeze the extras, I can’t make them from scratch in the air fryer, but they do reheat in it well. I’ll also make some rock cakes and some mince pies (bought pastry and bought mincemeat, but they still taste 100% better than ready made bought ones)
Hope your appetite is returning, @punkdoc. Lovely that you are getting to spend some quality time with Charlie, @D0rdogne_Damsel. Sounds like a very busy day for you, all good for business though.

Gosh those winds were strong last night! Hope there hasn't been too much damage in our area. The garden appears to be OK.

A nice cosy day in today - we'll decorate the tree and I'll make a start on the table decorations for the social we have coming up on Thursday.  Book club tomorrow and we take in nibbles for the December one.  Resorted to buying some mince pies from the deli for it - so they are posh ones.

    Stunning storm pics @Pat E!

And now the sun is out! I’ve decorated the tree. Now wondering if I should pop out to the garden and gather up some stuff for the green bin? Can also scare off the naughty squirrel who has worked out how to access the bird feeders. They have been up there for years, with a dome over the top of each feeder, and that’s been a sufficient deterrent. It seems one youngster has worked out how to jump from one to the other. That’ll have to stop, otherwise it’ll get expensive.
