Morning all. Sunny and still so far, but I don’t know what has been predicted.Ā

    Good morning all 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
According to my Weather App @Pat E theĀ Cooma area can expect a high of 29C, winds up to 20mph and cloudy all day  … you’ll have a little bit more sunshine tomorrow but otherwise much the same 😊

Here it’s 10C grey and drizzling and will stay like that all day. Ā

Hope everyone’s had a restful night and that poorly ones are feeling brighter. I slept like a log 😊

Afternoon all.Ā  Having a day off today - writing Christmas cards and making the table decorations for the social on Thursday.

Book Club was fun last night - everyone liked the book, which makes a change (Lessons in Chemistry).Ā  Our oldest member is 91 but she didn't look at all well last night and her legs were both heavily bandaged.Ā  She has not long stopped driving - another member picks her up these days.Ā  He's very kind and I think shares my concern.

The pantomime was great fun. There were loads of excited school children. Lots of singing, dancing, colourful costumes, sound effects etc. Princess Rose was woken by a kiss from her mother (man in drag) as a mother's kiss is the one of true love, but she got a kiss from the Prince as well.

We were nearly late even though we allowed an extra half hour for parking. There was a queue for the multi-storey car park near the theatre. Everywhere was very busy.

Evening all, just got back from our trip away, awful journeys in both direction, very wet and very dark.Ā  I've decided we will try not to travel in the dark and in rush hour any more, especially in bad weather, it's too stressful these days. I'm pleased to have met up with my brother and SIL though, so worth the effort. SIL was very pleased with the potted hyacinth bowl I gave her.

My eldest brother has had to decamp from the nursing home temporarily because their heating broke down yesterday morning - what a nightmare for the home. Hopefully they'll get it sorted soon.

@didyw, hope your fellow club member will be okay, it didn't sound good.

Glad your enjoyed the pantomime @Busy-Lizzie.

Wine is cooling in the fridge and quiche is defrosting so we're sorted!

    Good evening,

We had a very nice Christmas lunch at our local GC today. We booked it a few months ago. The tables had been beautifully set and the food was delicious. We won’t want anything more to eat tonight.

Whilst there we bought an indoor wreath and also some compost for a bare root rose we ordered which arrived the other day. My job tomorrow will be to pot it up.

We have another Christmas meal on Friday and the panto on Sunday, so a busy week really.

The weather has been thoroughly miserable this last few days hasn’t it @Lizzie27, and it hasn’t really seemed to get light at all, all day. It’s not good for driving in, that’s for sure. I was glad to put the car away when we got back, and think ā€œthat’s it, no more driving todayā€.

Pleased you had fun at the panto @Busy-Lizzie 😊.

  • Glad you all had a lovely day.Ā

Our Christmas luncheon club meal went well too, everyone enjoyed themselves.Ā

I've been invited to a Christmas drinks party next week, it's funny, I was just bemoaning my lack of social life when the invitation came thru. Something to look forward to, and I'm going out on Christmas Day with friends, although they are all well over '27'. Next year I really am going to try and make more friends and get out more. My life really shouldn't revolve around CdeG and Charlie alone.Ā

Take care everyone, especially on those dark wet roads.Ā

I do feel for you, @Lizzie27. That sounds a horrid journey. We have made the decision not to travel in the dark, even if it means splitting journeys into two and including an overnight hotel stay. Adds to the cost, but we’ve found it such a relief not to have the worry and stress of driving in less than ideal conditions.
@didyw, I also enjoyed Lessons in Chemistry, not the usual run of the mill book.
  • Great! Ā The oven has started playing up … still making a noise after the fan has switched off and a slight ā€˜electrical smell’. We’ve turned it off at the wall and the repair man will be here first thing Monday. Hopefully he can make it last until after Christmas  … šŸ¤ž otherwise Ā the Christmas cockerel might well be Coq au vin rather than roasted. šŸ™„Ā
