    Morning all.

Still quite cool but not raining and the sun is coming out. I put an extra blanket on the bed last night. OH said he was cold the night before. We had a sheet and a lightweight quilt. It should be good for gardening.

Meant to add - We went to the church fair yesterday. It was smaller than usual and it rained a bit. I bought 2 meat pasties for dinner tonight and a walnut and spice cake. I had a pork roll and OH had chips. It was better last year but then it was a warm sunny day and I was helping.

    Good morning,
a much drier and brighter start to the day today. Showers are forecast for later, but not the heavy downpours we had yesterday. It must have dropped cooler early on, because the radiators were warm when I got up. Unbelievable weather for early August.

With luck, I’ll get out into the garden today.

    Have a good Sunday.
  • Topbird sounds like a very stressful drive.  Stretch out and unwind after a busy day.  Yes there’s some amazing architecture and, as you say, without modern tools.  LB I hope your relatives enjoy their fleeting visit.  Rosie ps I hope you all managed to sleep.

Morning all. We've just popped out to our big Te**o for some bits we can't get in the smaller local one. However, we didn't get anything we went for as things were out of stock. What a wasted journey.
OH has nipped outside to cut the grass as it's looking like we could have rain in a bit. It's quite warm just now and the sun is shining.
Topbird, sympathise with you over horrendous, stress busting long car journeys. Nightmare and so very tiring. Hope you enjoy the studying. I was trying to read something on line, last night, which was written by Elizabeth I, my, it's hard trying to fathom it out!
  • Hazel old English can be difficult to interpret and can be tiring on the eyes.  You’ll be glad to be home after your sm visit.  Topbird hope you're having a much better day.   Rosie
  • Back home after a day in A&E. But not for myself this time. My wife, who rarely needs hospital treatment, was finally persuaded to go after five days of stomach pains.
Why is it that some people think they can "get over it" on their own?
Me? I'm probably just as frustrating, but I'm usually being scraped off the pavement when I go to A&E, so don't have an option.

She's actually asleep on the sofa, across the lounge.
For a few minutes. I'm so pleased she was seen - eventually. The board did say the waiting time was 1+ hours. Or was it 14? I didn't take my glasses!!

    Good evening all.
Oh @rowlandscastle444 that would have been the last thing you expected today but I am glad to read that your OH is home again and resting.
I did manage to dodge the showers today and got some more plants into their permanent places in the garden. I had to fill the bird feeder in the back garden which was completely empty apart from one dried mealworm. It is only lasting 2 days at the moment. I went out for lunch today with a friend and she had brought a lovely verbena for me - Verbena officinalis 'Bampton'. It has the most beautiful purply foliage and is just coming into flower. She had one plant that seeded itself all over her drive so she potted lots of them up - gave some to her son and daughter and saved one for me. I'll take a pic tomorrow (and of my Eupatorium).
Busy, I had to put my heating on this morning - just for an hour - because it was only 16°C in my house first thing and I was very chilly.
I am signing out for tonight and will be concentrating to make sure that I actually do manage to post this! Not like last night.

Oh dear @rowlandscastle444, that's just the place you  want to be. My OH is exactly the same, " it'll pass"... I hope she is alright and that you both have a decent peaceful night tonight. Hope her tummy pains are under control too.
LB, lunch sounds nice with your friend, and the free plant sounds lovely. We have planted out a small VRigidia this year and the purple colour is beautiful, much deeper than the VB are , so vivid too.
Ive come out in a wonderful rash all over my back. I feel an E Consult coming on🙄😬 Have taken antihistamines and put various different creams on but to no avail and it is now it's spreading.
Signing out for today. Night all.
