  • Afternoon all.  LB we used to get the tins of Seville orange marmalade and make them up.  Yours sounds lovely.  I used to have earl gray and have tried lady gray tea.  Rather dizzy today so resting.  Hazel mum will be looking to your visit.  I hope she likes her room and has things from her own home around her.  Rosie

Good afternoon all. What a morning I've had! Hazel and Ruby, I am beginning to think I've got the NHS yips as well. I dropped off my repeat prescription request on Monday. Had to wait 72 hours minimum before picking it up so I walked up to village today. The queue at the Doc's was out of the door - silly me forgot it was a Bank Holiday Weekend. Having waited patiently for 20 minutes I finally got to the desk and asked about my prescription. A nice lady told me it had been sent through electronically to my pharmacist (also in the village) so I walked there. Another queue in the pharmacy but they soon got to me. Lady scanned her screen - no sign of my prescription having been sent through to them. Very dis-chuffed I walked back to the Doc's - a 15 minute wait this time. Eventually get to the desk, same nice lady has a look at her screen and clicks furiously on the keyboard then asks me to take a seat in the waiting room. 10 minutes later she calls to me and says the prescription has now gone through. I walk back to the pharmacy, another 10 minute wait but this time the prescription had gone through. It was short of one item but that should be in next Tuesday and it is nothing I will be short of. I was shattered when I got home, stopped off at Jack's because I had bought a newspaper for him. Needed a good cuppa when I got in, to go with the fish and chips I bought as a consolation!
p.s. The good news @Biglad is I got my 10000 in!

That sure is a horrid morning LB you must be completely jiggered.I think a long rest after you morning mixups . Fish and chips are a nice consolation.

Rosie, you can still get Ma Made (I'm sure other marmalade makes are available) and we used it regularly when we were all at home together. So easy!

Ruby I was not best pleased but in the grand scheme of things this is quite trivial compared to what some poor people are having to put up with. I'll have to take another trip to the pharmacy to pick up the one item I was short of in this package.

  • LB and Hazel what a shambles the docs and chemist really need to sort it out, sympathies, Rosie

Rosie, I hope you're taking it easy and the dizziness is easing off. Not a pleasant sensation at all. We are looking forward to seeing mum. Have got some more bits and pieces from her home so hoping that will help with the familiar feeling of home for her.

We have had a big NHS yip this afternoon LB....we both received a text message saying that from 20/9 all appointment's will be made by filling in an e-consult form, on line which will be looked at, triaged by a clinician, and best service determined after that. When the e consults have reached  the " full capacity"  for the day or an extremely high amount of requests is received, ( er....yessss...every day) the forms will be shut down for the rest of the day. For those who have no internet ,they can go into the surgery or telephone and either pick up  an e consult form or ' fill out a form ' over the telephone.
This is updating the existing system with a Modern General Practice  Access ( MGPA) model.  Gawd and humph.........😲😱🤔🤬🤬🤬 Ye Gods.

Hazel, it honestly makes you feel like giving up. What happened to patient confidentiality? Jack was telling me yesterday that when he had rung his doctor the lady who answered his call wanted to know what he wanted to see/talk to the doctor about When Jack told her it was private she said that she could not help him. I told him that the next time he attempts the call he should tell the lady he suspects he has bubonic plague. This did make him laugh!

Rosie, in my particular situation it was 100% the Surgery's fault and not the pharmacy. A gentleman also waiting for his prescription, on hearing my first discussions, asked if it was my Doc's in the village who hadn't sent the prescription through. When I confirmed it, he had nothing good to say about the surgery at all.
