Good morning, It’s very close and muggy here today, with variable cloud from quite dark and threatening to light and fluffy, with some blue sky for good measure. It’s supposed to remain dry, but I’m not sure about that… Managed to get a bit of gardening done yesterday before the rain came. OH clipped the bit of hedge we’d been unable to do earlier because the hedge trimmer went on strike. (A new one is required), and I did a lot of deadheading and pruning back. The grass needs cutting, but it’s really too wet to mow at the moment. I hope you get the gazebo up @Busy-Lizzie. Climbing roses around it sounds a good idea. Need to pop to the local town for a few bits and pieces. It’s no longer a place to linger in as it’s become very run down and neglected looking apart from one or two favoured spots. The High Street is dreadful, along with the side streets running off it. At one time, they were bustling, clean and cared for. Now they just look so bereft with broken paths, litter strewn about and boarded up shops. It’s so very sad.
@Red maple - sadly, I think all too many town centres are beginning to look like that. Our local town (Bury St Edmunds) is not what it was but, fortunately, it is a pretty, historical place which attracts some tourism and there are still enough small, independent shops and eateries (hate that word!) to make it an interesting place to wander round. The twice weekly markets and a few annual festivals help bring a buzz and vibrancy.
Cambridge is also always busy and interesting to wander round. Those are both to the west. Similar distances but to the east, Stowmarket and Ipswich are the polar opposite and match your description to a tee. Sad.
Anybody else watch The Sewing Bee last night? Absolutely fabulous creation🥰

Good afternoon all. Back from Bestie's - we couldn't do anything because it never ceased raining. Plenty of hot gossip though! It was quite relaxing.
Busy, a gazebo, how wonderful! Have your family all gone now? You could have signed them up for gazebo building
@Red maple, I can only echo what T'Bird has said. I could cry when I see what has become of my local town centre. At present it is being totally demolished - the market hall, lots of other small shops. All the big high street stores have gone leaving the bargain SMs, coffee shops, charity shops and mobile phone stores. They are replacing the demolished buildings with a cinema, a bowling alley, a hotel and some apartments. I really don't care if I never go back there. It is scandalous.
T'Bird, I was riveted to the Sewing Bee Finale last night. Asmaa's dress at the end was absolutely stunning and a very worthy winning garment. I hate anyone having to lose but that is the competition. Thought they were all a great bunch and its so nice to know that they have all kept in touch.

Tee hee LB - I was trying not to give away who made that stunning creation in case anybody hadn't watched the programme yet🤭
It was incredibly beautiful and clever and for such a busy person doing such an important job it's amazing that she had time to even contemplate entering the competition let alone practising for it.
I loved the sculptural top she made out of art canvasses and the very slinky gold dress she made a few weeks ago. A very talented lady.

She was indeed very talented T'Bird. The gold dress was another superb garment and what a fantastic job she does where she can create bras for her mastectomy patients. I am full of admiration for her. Mia always made me smile, she threw herself into all the challenges without any hesitations and Tony was just great. I loved what his daughters said about him at the beginning of the programme.

Time for me to say goodnight. Cricket was a tad uninspiring Biglad - unless I missed something. I thought Root might have lasted longer. See you all in the morning.

Not really looking forward to tomorrow. Going for an MRI scan in London, to see whether or not my brain abscess from years ago, has returned. It's been 47 years since they removed the previous one, but head pain, in the same area, increased blacking out, and more seizures, has concerned the doctor.
At least the methods of removal have improved since 1976.
But, I must be optimistic. Good night, and thank you @Ladybird4 for the Snoopy cartoon.
Hello all. Not read back but hope all are well and looking forward to the weekend. I break up today for a week. Not going away but lots of plans with friends and family made.
Good morning Debs, you sneaked in there. What a lovely time to look forward to Debs. After all the extra hours you put in at work you deserve it. Have fun in the planning.
