Hi all. Very windy here ( what can one expect here??) but sun is shining. I've caught up on an indoor job this morning which involved the hot flat metal thing and a pile of material items making their way slowly up the wall. I've also picked up a million clematis petals that have blown off, this is now becoming a daily task. They look so messy on the lawn.
During the last but one visit to mums, I harvested some foxgloves seeds and sowed them here. Within days, they germinated and are now looking good. Don't know what colour they are but some nice excitement in waiting and anticipating their ultimate outcome.

@debs64 , oh I'm sorry to hear you've not been feeling too good. Now your fiancé is going to do some agency work it will hopefully lift your spirits and help you both maintain a good work/life balance. It doesn't help that your work is so stressful at times either. Enjoy your b-b-q and time with your ( strong) friend today.

Here is 23's bean that he planted in April.

And this looks like something else is beginning to grow, a bean? a flower? Fruit? Exciting waiting to see what grows.....

  • Alternative plant "pots"? Or the start of setting for early afternoon T?

    Good afternoon all.
Hazel, 23's bean is huge now. The new growths are more than likely flowers - you won't get more beans without the plant having flowered, been pollinated and then produced pods with the beans inside. It is very exciting to see though. Is 23 impressed?
@rowlandscastle444 - great for growing succulents in if you keep the spout downward facing to allow for good drainage. They would also make good nesting pockets if you hang them by their handles in trees and shrubs as long as they are reasonably high up to protect from predators.

Hi Ruby, its been very windy all day here and last night my security lights kept getting switched on by foliage flapping around in the breeze. Note to self: trim climbers tomorrow if its dry!

You will need to sort that LB it could keep you awake .My Silver Birch had very low growing branches that  kept slapping me in the face .I got fed up of it . My loppers came out and I removed two
quite large branches . I hope I haven’t done it any damage,I don’t know if I have lopped the branches at the right time of year .I am hoping the time of year doesn’t matter .

The RHS reckon late summer to midwinter is the best time to prune silver birches so you will more than likely be OK there Ruby - seeing as it is already Autumnal in feeling.

  • LB thank you a better day today.  I’ve been watching the joy of painting I’ve watched the series over some time, so talented.  Hazel gosh 23s plant has grown much taller.  Rowlandscastle yes succulents would look good in the teapot.

Rosie, @wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1, can you remind please of what it is called when some plants " go to sleep" on an evening? Word has gone from my mind unfortunately. Thanks!
