Wow @Ladybird4 you've got fast-growing ivy if it triggers the front security light.ย Good morning to you, and all those others who frequent this thread. I believe we have rain all day - started already.
Rain is forecast. We are going to the SM. Niece and family are on holiday in France and they are coming for lunch tomorrow.
After the rain yesterday the afternoon was fine. I went to a family run nursery yesterday and bought some annuals to fill in gaps so I planted them and did some weeding in the afternoon.
I have lost 3 fuchsias, a caryopteris, an erodium and a couple of foxgloves thanks to a mole burrowing underneath them. Yesterday I caught a mole in a trap by my new dwarf ceanothus. There was a burrow under the ceanothus so I had to re-plant it it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning everyone,ย Thank you for all your birthday wishes for my little Grandson. We had a lovely day and some yummy cake. The sun shone too, which made a lovely change from all this awful weather.ย Unfortunately it's back this morning and absolutely pouring, to make up for disappearing for one whole day.ย At least it's saving my water bill ๐คฃ Hope all works out well with your meter @wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1
Good morning @rowlandscastle444. It is the unattached, new growth 'branches' of the ivy waving aound in the breeze that trigger the light so an annual clipping is an essential job at this time of year. I keep the ivy growing on my front wall clipped so that it resembles a hedge. It is a mini metropolis for all of my invertebrates. Apparently we have this 'weather' until Thursday of next week. Deep joy!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning Busy and SGL - another two who weren't there when I posted. It seems as if we are all under various rain clouds at the moment. I've noticed a lot more snails around too with this damp weather and I've noticed a slug trail on my carpet near the front door. Yuk!
Glad you had a happy day yesterday SGL. x
