Wanted to edge the grass and dead head the roses before leaving tomorrow. Got those done, picked a handful of raspberries and stepped inside just as the heavens opened. Perfect timing for once😎
Really heavy shower but it's sunny again now and very close and steamy. Looking at the clouds I think a thunderstorm is very likely before too long.
So pleased to hear your news @Red maple. A huge relief for both of you.
LB - Glad you got the ivy tackled into submission. Good to be able to get outside for a change and catch up on the goss.
Tweed was a perfume I wore for a while and I think every teenager had a bottle of Charlie. What with boyfriends stinking of Brut the buses must have been a heady atmosphere for older folks😁
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I'm back after almost a whole week. Still alive, barely, with a lot of work between rain and heat every day. We are at the moment in the middle of another huge storm. Hope you are all well. I read just few last posts, so don't know all happenings here.
I have had a productive day in the garden today. Bit of a tiny shower then dry so I've got more plants into their permanent positions. Beechgrove and GW are on earlier tonight - just giving heads up. Neighbour had to get a pest control man out as she had noticed wasps going under the tiles near her daughter's bedroom. I couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for the wasps but needs must I suppose with a small person possibly at risk.
Hey T'Bird was Brut the one advertised by Henry Cooper - 'Splash it on' or words to that effect? I was permanently gagging at work as the boys would use that Lynx and I had to keep hinting that it would be much better if they washed first before spraying it all over themselves.
I am signing out now. I hope Hazel and Mr Hazel have had a lovely trip down Memory Lane and that Debs and her fiancé have had a super week - despite the weather. See you all in the morning. Ante, if you look in. I trust you are not working too hard.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Hi @Ante1 sounds like a very busy week. Hope you can relax at the weekend. Take care. One of my favourite perfumes is the one that comes in a tin and shaped like a body.....without a head 😉 It also comes in a male version...aftershave... and the body is blue. @Red maple so pleased to hear your OH has had good results for his scans. You both must be so relieved. @Songbird-2 Hope you and Mr Songbird have had a lovely day together. And the weather stayed dry for you. Are you carrying on the celebrations this evening with a lovely meal? Have a lovely evening and hope you found the police box 😉 Have a lovely evening everyone.
Thank you everyone, for your lovely words and wishes. OH and I have had a lovely day. It rained once but we were ensconced in Waterstones choosing lots of books😊 Also picked up one or two things for 23 Pokemon related🤭 We bought some nice little things from the various gift shops we browsed around, discovered the restaurant where we had our first date, has now gone. Sweaty Betties, the famous dish and chips shop has gone, lots of shops shut down, saw something we never saw in the 70's ( homeless people in a doorway doing things they shouldn't) and it was heaving with people. Nonetheless, we had a smashing look round the indoor market...we had a cuppa etc but OH was " ignored " again , after waiting ages for a bowl of soup until he flagged them down and asked where his soup was. It came, stone cold....so he asked for a refund and we departed. We went to the Cathedral but only ventured into the entrance way as it was so crowded so got a few pics of interest and came out again and wobbled our way down to some more shops. Our legs were beginning to give way by this time. We had " forgotten" (🫣) how hilly it was and our poor bodies are paying for it now.😂 But, all in all, we enjoyed ourselves, looked back and remembering how it was and what we did and realised that we had been at the City at its best. SGL, the police box disappeared in 1976, but we imagined the chap there, in the market square, doing all the hand signals directing the traffic. It really was fascinating to watch him controlling the flow of traffic. A very good day.

Happy Anniversary to Hazel and her OH!
