@wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 Rosie  do hope that everything can be sorted for you and the men repair everything that they did the other day.  I think LB is right, be strong and then next time get some other company. This company should put right everything for free, where as a different company will charge again.
@Ladybird4 there will be no rush for anyone using hosepipes,  it's rained so much there's no need 🤣
My eldest son is supposed to play golf today with one of my nephews today, think it will be rained off though.

Good morning Ruby - yes, its grim today. Might have to do some crafting (I was going to say HW then thought to myself 'Don't be silly!')
SGL, I believe underwater golf might catch on.

    Good morning
Its dry at the moment but we’ve had a lot of rain in the night and earlier this morning and more is forecast - weather warnings for this afternoon and evening for stormy weather, so it’s batten down the hatches. There certainly won’t be much opportunity to do anything in the garden today. Instead it’s a few indoor tasks and then book reading, I think.

That was very interesting about the Royal Arms at Durham Cathedral. It’s a beautiful cathedral to visit, isn’t it? OH and I were there a few years ago, and a very good guide told us lots of interesting information about its history.

My uncle attended the university there, and my Gt niece is there now. It’s sad to see the city is not thriving in the way it once was - sadly indicative of so many places here, as we discussed on another post earlier.

Morning all, raining here with warnings and goodness know what, too. Ante, you're having a bad do of it too, I don't know what's  happening with the weather these days.
Rosie, could your dad or mum be with you when these men call round? Bit of morale and physical support maybe?
Busy, hope the weather isn't so bad that folks will still come to the fair. It's chance and luck these days.
LB, thanks for turning the pics. I have tried, several times, to follow some advice from other posters, but it just doesn't seem to work on this ipad. Must be too old......

  • Thank you LB, Lily and Hazel, just received an email cancelling next Fridays appmt as they have acknowledged the gas service.  No details for Monday so still think Mondays going ahead re gas uncap.  I am grateful for all your comments, thank you. Rosie. Lily I don’t mind the rain so much prefer it to high temperatures.  I’m just pottering and having a quiet day.  Maybe a small Baileys after lunch.  A day for curling up on the sofa.  Rosie

Glad we had our day out yesterday as it's rained all day here. Just drizzling now so fingers crossed it may be stopping.
Rosie, good luck for Monday and your door must be repaired or replaced.
Red Maple, yes, the cathedral is  beautiful, full of a thousand years of history. I imagined all the people entering and leaving the place over the years and how religion played such an important part in everyday life. Then I imagined all the men who built the place, with the tools that were available at that time and what jolly hard graft it must have been. It beats me how they managed to do it really.
Did some unmentionables this morning and then had a good rest this afternoon. I a, trying to do some knitting but not doing too much before I " rest" my hands/wrists.

    Good evening all.

Rain finally stopped around noon so I managed to clean front garden. There is a lot of branches, and luckily I have small wood chipper. They will all be a good mulch for plants. It's time for my dinner, pets are all fed.

Well what a wash out today has been. It has obviously affected the cricket as they are just showing random programmes on BBC2. I was all set for an evening watching the One Hundred. Think its time to do some reading.
@Red maple, my nephew went to Durham Uni.
Hazel, I too marvel at the skill of the builders who put up wonderful Cathedrals such as Durham. York Minster is another glorious building. I often wonder if modern buildings will last as long as these have done.
