Morning Ruby. I spoke with handy brother earlier and he is experiencing the torrential rain also but he did tell me that he had had a reasonable day yesterday and got his grass cut. Amazing the difference 22 miles can make.

It's slugs, snails, flies, wasps, bees, moths and spiders with eldest @star gaze lily

She's hoping to buy a house as close to us as possible so she can still shout for me :D

    Morning all.
Looks like we had another decent shower last night. Forecast was originally showing rain for much of today but (as per) that seems to have disappeared and the sun is shining. I've loved having a wetter & cooler July. The garden is usually looking dry and exhausted by August but this year it's green and lush and all the plants cut back a month ago have put on lots of lovely fresh new growth. Looks like a second spring out there.
Don't mind if it continues like this for a while yet. Getting lots of jobs done which are just too much effort when it's hot. Will probably jet wash the algae off the garage today and I can do that in the rain if needs be. OH has painted the doors this week so, if I clean the render, it will all look nice and smart.

Rosie - hope things are ok with your meter. Completely understand why you don't want those blokes back. Hopefully, the door is easy to mend but you need to take some photos and keep an eye on the meter.

Hazel - I hope you and your OH have a lovely outing for your anniversary. Many congratulations to you both. Wondering which town it is? Is it York perhaps? Anyway - hope you have a good day and hope you're both wearing replica outfits from your first date😁

    SGL - hugs for you.

Morning all from rainy North East. Tanking down here, just like when we visited mum. The roads will be flooding next. We were going to have a run out to a nice small garden centre but undecided now.

Topbird,,not York , somewhere further North, well known University City with a huge Cathedral🙂

Rosie, I can understand why you want some space too but as Topbird says, for now, keep some photos and check that meter for any more irregularities. We had a chap call the other day from the Water Board to take a metre reading. He told us from next year, it was going to be compulsory to change all our water metres to smart ones . All dealings would then be done via an App.  We queried what people would do who didn't have iphones or the capabilities on their phones  for Apps or didn't have a phone. He said" I don't know!". That's  alright then......

    Morning T'Bird and Hazel.
@Biglad - your daughter needs an electronic bug catcher like mine:
It has an extension tube too for the out of reach critters. I find mine very handy - especially for saving bees from the GH.
T'Bird, the garage door clean is another job on my 'to do' list - which is growing longer every day. I'm glad that you have at last had some decent rain so that your garden has been rejuvenated.
Hazel, I reckon it must have been in my birth county - Co Durham

Unfortunately, that wouldn't be long enough @Ladybird4 - if there was one that could operate from a different room, maybe :D

    🤣 @Biglad I know the feeling.
I'd want one that worked from another room too.... especially for spiders! 😵‍💫
    Thank you @Topbird and @Rubee

I agree that the garden looks lush and green and the flowers are making it look so pretty. But I really would like some sort of summer. It's going to be a very long Autumn/winter otherwise 😥
@wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 do hope you get the door sorted. Agree with others re taking photos.
@Songbird-2 hope the weather is kind to you on Friday.  It sounds so romantic going back to where it all began.
Something OH and I liked to do. Have a wonderful day together x

It’s very drizzly here now, after heavier rain through the night and earlier this morning. Yes, everything is looking very lush, but I do wish we could have a little bit of sunshine so that we can sit outside for our lunch. Haven’t been able to do that since June, only grab 10 minutes with a coffee now and again. It certainly seems more like autumn than summer. Still, I’m so relieved that we haven’t had the roasting temps we had last year.

I hope it does brighten up for you on Friday @Songbird-2.
