As it's our Golden Wedding Anniversary on Friday OH is taking me back to where it all began.( we met at college). We used to visit quite often but not since Covid, and as we both love the place( very old City) it will be really nice to revisit some favourite haunts and if it's still there, we may even lunch in the restaurant where we had our first date. Those were the days of long hair( OH), red plastic macs, orange bell bottomed hipsters, green shoes and hair as short as a number two ( me) 😂😂. and Mary Hopkins singing " Those were the days my friend". 🎼🎼🎹

Morning Hazel, you have just brought lots of memories flooding back with the clothes description and Mary Hopkins. You have a wonderful day to look forward to this Friday.

Happy anniversary for Friday @Songbird-2. 🥂 I hope you enjoy lots of lovely memories when you get to your college city.

The weather doesn’t know what to do today. It’s very grey, with spots of drizzle. July has been something of a damp squib here, hasn’t it? I have to be honest though, and say I prefer it to the baking hot July we had last year and that places in Europe have had/still have this year. I find the really hot, sticky temperatures very debilitating. It would be nice to have some sunshine, though.

OH is happy because his new hedge trimmer has arrived today. The reviews have been pretty good (searched various review sites for a broader picture), so hoping it lives up to expectations. He’s charging up the battery then it should be good to go 🤞.

LB, some memories are worth revisiting. It was a great time apart from when I had the flu for the first ( and last) time in my life. It floored me for a week and was dreadful.
Red Maple, thank you for the good wishes, we're looking forward to it very much. I hope the new hedge trimmer is ok and your OH manages to get it done. It's been a most unusual month and whilst the rain is good for the garden, we've had enough of it now.
  • Hazel when plants go to sleep in darkness it’s known as nyctinasty.  LB it’s looking very autumnal here.  The gas company telephoned this morning advising they’ll send an engineer to look at the damage to the door and they’re scheduled for a two hour window between 9 and 11 am tomorrow.  Also the emergency repair man had meddled with the gas meter and it has gone up 3 units on the second digit since their attendance on Saturday.
  • Hazel how lovely that you’ll both have a trip down memory lane to celebrate your Golden Wedding.  A great milestone for you both

Thanks Rosie ( and LB). Something is definitely not right with the metre if it's gone up that much in two days. I wonder if you took a picture of the reading prior to the fellow meddling? Hope tomorrow is successful for you.
Thank you for the nice wishes, I'm sure we'll have a great time. It's a pity one of its famous landmarks ( the Police Box in the market square ) is no longer there.😕

    Afternoon all.
@Red maple, my weather is just like yours. I really love my hedge trimmer and it makes all those trimming jobs so simple and finished in next to no time
Rosie, I am glad that you are getting such good responses regarding that twonk of an engineer.
Eek Hazel, I daren't even ask what part in your courtship the Police Telephone Box played! Surely it wasn't the TARDIS?
