As it's our Golden Wedding Anniversary on Friday OH is taking me back to where it all began.( we met at college). We used to visit quite often but not since Covid, and as we both love the place( very old City) it will be really nice to revisit some favourite haunts and if it's still there, we may even lunch in the restaurant where we had our first date. Those were the days of long hair( OH), red plastic macs, orange bell bottomed hipsters, green shoes and hair as short as a number two ( me) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. and Mary Hopkins singing " Those were the days my friend". 🎼🎼🎹

In golden hues of memory's embrace, Where love first bloomed in college's warm grace, You tread again the paths once wandered through, OH and you, in time's soft dance anew.

A city old, with whispers of the past, Shall greet you both, in love that's meant to last, Familiar haunts and echoes of delight, A restaurant where hearts took their first flight.

Red plastic macs and orange bell-bottom flair, Green shoes, short hair, and love's unending care, Those were the days, my friend, sung sweet and true, A song of youth, of love forever new.

May laughter ring, and Mary Hopkins play, As you revisit love's first sweet array, And if by chance, that restaurant remains, May it serve joy, and memories like gentle rains.

From all of us, with warmth and heartfelt cheer, Happy Anniversary, Golden Year, A toast to love, to memories, to you, In every hue of life's enchanting view.

Your kind words have brought a smile to my face, and I'm touched by your warm welcome to the forum. Indeed, the verses were crafted especially for you and your OH, inspired by the beautiful tale of love you've shared with us.

Celebrating a Golden Wedding Anniversary is a momentous occasion, and it's an honour to pen something that resonates with such a remarkable journey. May your trip down memory lane be filled with joy, love, and the same enchantment that has united you two for all these years.

    Oh wow indeed.
@jimmids how lovely of you to compose a special poem for @Songbird-2
It's beautiful and very special. You must be thrilled Hazel. ❀️

Thank you everyone for your kind words. The poppets do help me get through my days. As do my family and friends. But it's very hard for me at the moment.Β Β

@Ladybird4 all 'picture' stamps are still allowed to be used.Β  If you have any Christmas ones you might want to use those and keep your special ones.

Welcome to Rez @jimmids. You have made Hazel's day!
SGL, thanks for the heads up about the stamps. I'll have another good look through my stash but I'm almost certain I used ordinary stamps last C******s.
p.s. I haven't seen any with King Charles on yet - nor any coins for that matter.

@Ladybird4 I haven't had any coins/notes with King Charles yet. I have seen a 50p coin with King Charles on though, that a friend got in her change.Β
I read earlier in the year, that King Charles had said he wanted all the stamps of the Queen on, to be used before his was released.Β
I would imagine what with the strikes before Christmas and all the old code less stamps and that there's not so much posted anymore, it could be a few months yet before we see a stamp with the King on.Β  πŸ˜•

I hope you have a lovely day on Friday, Hazel. You reminded me of memories from my past too.

I have stamps with King Charles on them. I bought some in Norfolk last month to send birthday cards to grandchildren in France.

We are back from Daughter 2's. Grandchildren are lovely but it's good to be home.Β I've picked a huge tomato, 2 cucumbers and a helping of runner beans. More tomatoes will be ready any minute.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
