Good morning Ruby and Hazel. I have Compassion in my garden Ruby - its a beauty. Busy, if you are thinking of making your gazebo into at sitooterie, you need to think about roses that are slightly less prickly. What height is the gazebo?
Hazel, I wondered where you were. Hopefully the distress you were feeling last week is easing somewhat. Enjoy your trip to the GC. Hmmmm, I wonder what you will come home with.

I meant to say Hazel, remember those plants I was convinced were my Verbena bonariensis - well they aren't! I think they are Eupatorium (Hemp agrimony) I'll take some pictures later. I do have some more V.B. though.

I hope you enjoy the GC, Hazel.

That's funny @Rubee, I had Compassion at my old house and it was salmon pink.

I would like a red, a white and 2 pink roses. Thinking of Open Arms, Strawberry Hill, Chevy Chase, Iceberg, and several others. Wondering about Malvern Hills too, pale yellow, but it may be too big. The gazebo is 2m40.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

My Compassion is pink too Busy with sort of peachy tones. Oddly enough I was thinking about Malvern Hills. David Austin has a beautiful one called Ghislaine de Féligonde.

  • What a shambles, gas engineer arrived broke the bar closure on my door and snapped off part of the gas meter so the tubing couldn’t be attached.  Then he called out emergency repairs saying I had a gas leak and hung a carbon monoxide detector on a picture hook.  Then he had two exits to his van then came back and called emergency repairs.  Emergency repairs arrived and took the gas meter off the wall whilst working on it and asked me to run a hot tap when the boiler was all closed down from the previous engineer saying he was testing water pressure on the gas meter.  What utter rubbish.

Oh my goodness me Rosie, that is an absolute disgrace! Is it your front door that has been damaged as well as all the other disasters? I do hope that they will get it repaired for you. Has the second lot of engineer/s got you all up and running now?

Gracious Rosie. I'd be absolutely fuming. Is this a new(ish) boiler and / or gas meter?(seem to remember you having problems a while back - thought you might have had something fitted then).

You have every right to expect these guys to make good all the damage (including your door) and ensure you have a safe home to live in. Fortunately I think gas engineers are very aware of the disasters that can occur if there are any gas leaks so they're very unlikely to leave you with a dangerous boiler / meter.

@Busy Lizzie. It's a shame you're not in Norfolk today. It's the Old Buckenham Airshow and I'm pretty sure there will be some interesting things flying over your cottage. Having seen their route from Marham to Old Buck to Diss, I'm pretty sure the Red Arrows will be flying overhead your village this afternoon

  • LB and Top-bird yes they say the works completed now.  I emailed the gas company regarding the damage.  I’ve rewarded myself with a Baileys
