Good morning everyone . It rained for half an hour last night ย it barely wet the ground .I will have to water today.I hope LBs visit to the dentist is over quickly .Sorry I havenโt read back . I am a little under the weather with my asthma. Coping but hoping for cooler weather.Enjoy your day folks .
We drove back from Bristol after lunch at the GC yesterday. Took Google Mapps advice this time and the journey was much better, but then it was Sunday, not Friday. Mostly motorway but traffic was flowing. We passed by Duxford and the airshow was going on. The Red Arrows were impressive. We saw quite a bit as there were people lining the road to watch them so traffic was moving slowly.
Back around 6.30pm. It was 30C and very windy. Had dinner, watched TV then there was a powercut around 9.30. Checked NDN was OK then we went to bed. Hard to sleep in the heat. Power came back during the night. I was hoping for rain but there was only thunder.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all. It's a lot cooler here thankfully and as I type, it's just started raining, saves me a job,if it lasts. Busy, after such a busy weekend, on and off the road, are you going to take it a bit easier now? How is ย your OH doing now with his new hip?ย Debs, what a fantastic day you had at Blenheim Palace , it looks to be a stunning place but just too far away for us to ever visit. I'm still itching to go to Harlow Carr , will I ever get there? Hope LB and Rosie have a successful morning and Rubee, I hope it cools down enough as to not affect your asthma. How is your OH doing ? Im off to see the Specialist this afternoon, right near teatime, so the roads will be busy, oh joy.
Back from the Dentist's now. It was not quite as scary as I thought it might be and the Dentist is lovely. Needless to say it will be an hour or so before I can drink tea without dribbling.
Debs, you sound to have had a very spirit lifting experience at Blenheim. Just think about the money you saved by the plants being less than inspirational!
Ante, don't overdo the work you have a long summer ahead of you so will need those legs in tip top condition. Were you being serious when you said you liked going to the dentist? I must admit I don't mind going but this is a new Dentist for me as my old Dentist retired during Covid. She is very good.
Hazel I hope all goes well with your appointment at the specialists this afternoon .OH is coping a little better . The condition is chronic we have to keep an eye on it . Thank you for asking .
I'm taking it easy today @Songbird-2, but OH has been mowing. He's using a longer cut than usual which keeps it green. I may do some gardening later. It's a lot cooler today. No hosepipe ban in East Anglia @Ladybird4.
Hi folks,ย Not posted lately but I have been keeping an eye on everyone. Wrist is no better but I have decided to go on my art break and just do what I can.ย I'm looking forward to some time away. Thanks for all your holiday posts @Topbird Sweden looks lovely.ย Whenever I see it on the TV (I watch a lot of Scandi series) it always looks glum and miserable. Off to look after the boys soon. Stay cool everyone.
Busy, my OH started off mowing the lawn on a higher level as yes, it does tend to stay greener for longer. However, he found he was needing to mow it very frequently so decided to lower the level and now scalps it every ย mow๐ฑ๐ I'll go and have a peep at your pics. LB, glad you're done but have fun trying to use the mouth now๐ I always ย take hours and hours to de-numb but OH only takes about an hour๐ Yvie, I'm sorry to hear your wrist is no better. Do you take painkillers? Did the doc say it would take a long time to heal? It's surprising how we learn to ' live with things' but it's not nice and can be very frustrating and upsetting at times. Rubee, your OH sounds a courageous chap who ,with your help and support, is doing the best he can with his condition but I do sympathise with those with long term ailments. It is also very hard for carers.ย Thanks for the best wishes folks, I am not expecting much from the appointment to be honest.ย
Gosh Ruby, I meant to say how sorry I was to hear about your asthma proving to be problematical. The recent high pollen counts can't be helping either. Have a bit of a rest from your garden. Maybe if you get some really good rain the pollen will be washed out of the air.
Good to see you Yvie. I am sure that you will enjoy your art break even if you are handicapped by your wrist. That does seem to be taking a long time to get right.
Hazel, mouth was back to normal after an hour so I was able to enjoy my cuppas once more.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Iย am signing out for today and watching the cricket whilst I make my shopping list. Hope Hazel has gone on all right at her specialist's. See you all tomorrow. Hope you all enjoy your evenings.
