Good morning all. Bit of a strange incident yesterday, I worked over for 30 minutes because I was in the middle of a job and didn’t want to leave it half done. I wasn’t bothered about being paid for it and said so. As I was walking home I found a fiver lying on the ground. Nobody in sight, someone up there was paying me I think!
Heavy rain last night, lovely for the garden. Hoping to plant up a few cuttings and seedlings this morning, I always seem to have some waiting on the “nursery bench”
Hope you all have a good and restful Sunday

    Good morning

We had lots of steady rain yesterday and the odd rumble of thunder first thing, but then from about 9.30 last night we had a spectacular lightning display, then the thunder rolled in and the downpour came, lasting well into the night. It’s sunny and cloudy for now, but more storms are forecast for today. I did start deadheading roses yesterday until rain stopped play. Not sure if I’ll manage to do any today.

    🤞your golfing doesn’t get rained off @Biglad.

    Have a good Sunday everyone.

Good morning @AnniD - your post wasn't there when I posted last. It is always nice to see you - I remember you posting on Rez before. As @Topbird says please do come and join in if any topic catches your eye.
Gosh T'Bird still no significant rainfall for you? I think the north west got your share yesterday. You must be so worried about your garden.
Debs - that reward was meant to be.
@Red maple, that is roughly the time my evening thunder storm began - about 21:00. I love a good thunder and lightning storm.

    Morning everyone,
So sorry to read your mum has had a fall @Songbird-2 Do hope she isn't too badly hurt. Hope she is able to return home. Thinking of you.
Raining here at the moment and very dark. Didn't have the downpour we were forecast yesterday.  But enough to give the garden a good drink.
@Topbird do you not have a hosepipe ban in your area. We've had one for a fortnight now 🤦🏻‍♀️
@debs64 definitely deserved and meant to be 💸
Goodness knows where I got it but I've been quite poorly this week with Covid. Started Tuesday afternoon feeling cold and shivering. Woke up Wednesday with horrendous headache and feeling very ill. Temperature was very high and felt ill till yesterday. Feeling better this morning, just like a heavy cold now, but glad to be feeling better than I did.
Birds are very noisy this morning, perhaps they feel a storm brewing.

Hello SGL - sorry to hear you've had Covid - hope you're on the home strait now. Remember my Covid headache being one of the worst I'd ever had. Almost couldn't bear to open my eyes or move my head. Fortunately only lasted for a morning but very debilitating at the time. On the plus side you've reboosted your immunity for a while....

Touch wood we don't have a hosepipe ban. This area is so drought prone that our water company has probably had the best water conservation & storage measures in the country for decades. If the sprinkler does come out today it will be it's first outing this year. I try very hard not to waste water on the garden but I've been doing a lot of hard cutting back of geraniums & other early perennials this week and they need a decent watering to get them going again.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Thank you @Topbird the headache was horrendous. Unfortunately lasted three days before it started to ease. Still have a muzzy headache.
You're lucky being able to use the hose/sprinkler. Is yours long enough to stretch to my garden. 😉  Have only had a drizzle of rain today. Really needs a good few hours of rain.
Hope you get all your gardening jobs done and then hopefully relax with a G&T 🍸

Afternoon all. So lovely to see you @star gaze lily, but sorry to hear that you caught the dreaded Covid and it left you feeling so wretched. I have been at the local GC with a friend and we nattered for hours. The plants were looking particularly good. Naturally I succumbed to temptation and came home with a white passion flower called Snow Queen. This will replace the beautiful purple one I lost to the severe frosts earlier this year. I also bought a new clemmie. This one really caught my eye as I have never seen anything quite like it before. It is a compact ground hugging hybrid with gorgeous white flowers in the Spring. A miniscule treasure.
I think I might see what is happening at Wimbledon.

Er, don't they have a day without play on the middle Sunday? Or am I missing something here?

You are not wrong @rowlandscastle444 - normally it is a rest day but because of the rain last week lots of matches were delayed so they are playing today. Just seen a brilliant match between Rublev and Bublik. No spoilers.
