Good morning one and all. I hope all the gardens in East Anglia got some of that lovely rain yesterday. I wonder if Wimbledon will ever catch up with all those matches that had to be postponed. More to be done in the garden today. I felt quite sad to hear about Fiona Phillips' diagnosis of Alzheimer's. She is no age at all. Makes me realise that we must seize the day.

    Morning all.

Off to Hampton Court Flower Show.

LB, it tipped with rain all afternoon and most of the night. Dry now.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Good morning Busy. Oh you have a super day ahead. I have seen Carol Klein on GW, preparing her show garden for this show so I envy you seeing it in 'real life'. .Hope you manage to get some lovely pictures.

My OH's iphone has died on him. We are going to see if we can get the battery changed, failing that it will have to be a new phone.

Morning Hazel. I've just finished 2 hours in the garden cutting the front hedge. Despite some rain in the night it was dry and I'm now sitting with a cuppa - smug faced because it has gone dark and I suspect Marti might arrive soon. I have filled both of my green bins - had to use the rake head to squish down all the trimmings to get the lids shut. I had to be very careful as the supreme monster beastie - a berberis with thorns at least 2.5cm long manage to puncture my gardening clogs and stab my feet twice so I was not about to just tamp down with my gardening gloves on. Just put on Wimbledon - oops rain stopped play again. I wonder why they are not showing matches from the centre and number one courts.

    Morning all,

Yesterday went well. Went to a small, local GC as they had a summer bedding sale. Got 10 plants for Β£10 as ammunition for youngest's small front garden, which I hadn't seen this year. Then stopped off at another bigger GC on the way over. Picked up the trellis and perlite. Managed to avoid browsing as I wanted to get on my way, so nothing else jumped into my hands. I will be going back though ;)Β

Youngest's steep, 3-tier garden is surrounded by masses of bindweed. It's rampant in the cul-de-sac and I don't think anybody ever tries to remove any of it. I forgot to take any before pictures but I took away 4 full sacks to put in my garden waste bin (they don't have one!). It was mostly bindweed. It had been allowed to spread and wrap itself around most of the plants that had been planted over the last couple of years. Most of them were no more! There's still more to remove but the top layer is now pretty clear but with only a couple of plants remaining. I put the bedding plants in the middle layer around the cordyline, hosta, salvias and strawberries that had survived the weather and bindweed attacks. I'll go back to populate the top level at some point. Then comes the bottom tier - currently bare soil with the texture of concrete! Obviously, the local weeds like it though.

Beyond the steps is next door but I couldn't resist having a hack at the encroaching growth as it was coming over about half of the step width. Access is certainly better now but I reckon a hand rail wouldn't be a bad addition.

I see the Just Stop Oil brigade are out at Wimbledon. They've made a total mess of one of the Courts. Where on earth are the Police to deal with these people?Β
When I was a Juror my bags and myself were " inspected" every time I entered the building. I think this rules should apply at these big events too.

You're making good progress @Biglad in your daughters garden. Hard work by the looks of it.Β
