Good afternoon all. Back and fully gossiped out from Bestie's. Boy but it is hot.
@rowlandscastle444 these estate agents are cunning little monkeys when it comes to photographing and describing homes for sale. I know I certainly wouldn't want a home of mine right next to a substation. Your new home is just waiting for you to find it.
Hazel, I was pleased to hear that your OH is feeling better today but oh dear, poor 23. I hope he gets over his tummy bug soon.
Rosie, that is much better news about your flooring and I love the sound of warm oak. You'll have to make sure that Alfie feels safe and secure next week when the fitting takes place. This carpet fitter sounds like a good 'un.

I went to the village coffee morning, there were about 12 people, one was a young man and three were young mums whose children go to the village school. One of them had her new baby.
It was a very warm morning. I did some gardening and we had a sandwich in the garden. OH wanted to go to Peter Beales to buy a clematis. He's cleared the area, about 1 square metre to the right of the compost bins in front of the fence. It's rather shady. I chose Blue Angel. I had one at my old house and it was gorgeous then the deer ate it. Couldn't find Blue Angel and a young man at PB's said they had sold out of Blue Angel and he suggested one called Blekitny Aniol which looked very like it so we bought it. I looked it up and found that it is in fact Blue Angel!
While we were there and on the road to go there was a thunder storm and loads of rain, had to wait for the rain to ease to go back to the car in the car park. Garden is now watered!
Went to Sainsbugs after that for essentials, milk, bread, butter. We are going to stay with OH's niece in Bristol this weekend. Leave tomorrow. Didn't want to come home and find nothing for breakfast!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Busy, your garden will have welcomed the downpour. We had that sort of weather a few days earlier than you did and it was very refreshing. I'm pleased that you found your clematis. It is one of the 90 or so clematis bred by a Jesuit priest in Warsaw. His name is Brother Stefan Franczak and many of his plants have their Polish names and have since been re-christened with English names. Blue Angel is a good, strong variety.
Heads up all. Remember that Gardeners World is on tonight and not tomorrow.

Hazel I hope 23 will soon feel better, lots of fluids. ย Poor thing it wonโt be easy in the heat. ย Itโs good to go somewhere cool when the temps can be quite stifling.
Update on 23. Still no improvement but plenty of trying to be sick.....you know what I mean. I am hoping overnight he may sleep okay and wake feeling somewhat better. It's so dreadfully hot where they are though. They are ย all on standby though to seek medical advise if needed. Very muggy tonight and getting hotter๐ฌย I've had to record GW on Sunday so no spoilers please.... Goodnight ย all.
A very good morning everyone. I am not sure about going to Canasta today - looking a bit dull outside and I'm guessing there may be a bit of the wet stuff soon. Its lovely and toasty though so I'm not complaining.

Sunny and hot morning. Thank you for sending me beloved heat. Yesterday was 36โ but for weekend we can expect refreshment. Sorry for my absent last few days. Every afternoon I was at cottage, but now all major jobs are done. I feel quite drained, and next few days will be for resting. Now is time for tea on the balcony. It's all quiet and peaceful, but already hot.ย ย
