Well, what a day we've had. The morning was ok but OH decided to get in touch with the dentist as he has been bothered by a very sore gum and headaches  for a while. Plus fatigue. It must have been bad as OH never just gets in touch the dentist , I tend to make appointments etc. They said to go straight down, which he did ,alone. He was back within the hour looking dreadful. Apparently, the dentist knew exactly what was wrong, a bit of root left in the gum which had become very badly infected. Yuk! He then split Oh's gum open ( no anesthetic😱) after draining off ' something', and then proceeded to pull a rather large bit of root out of gum, poor soul. He then had to drive home and was very coggley with the shock of it all when he got back home. He's had some painkillers but the dentist said his symptoms should ease now so no need for antibiotics. We thought he would have been given some.  So,OH is  resting now so fingers crossed he will start to feel better within a few days. I could kick myself for not going with him and driving him home. The first time.....typical.
Good heavens, Hazel, sounds horrific, your poor OH. My son is a dentist. He gets quite annoyed when other dentists leave bits of root behind and patients go to him in desperation. I'm sure he would have given a local anaesthetic, he's really good at them, you hardly feel it, if at all. I'm sure he would have prescribed antibiotics and painkillers too. When OH went to him for his implant prep. he said I must drive him.
We had a delicious meal as usual here http://www.foxandgoose.net/ They had saved a place for us in the car park with OH's name on it, we hadn't asked them to, and they sat us at our favourite table.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
The Land Girls monument is interesting. If you can enlarge the pic on your screen you will see a dead rat in a trap behind the right heel of the left figure. I didn't know this until today but that was one of their jobs - rat catchers.
The RAF were having a service in their section. And representatives of the Jewish community were having a service at their monument.

The polar bear is carved out of wood and it is a monument dedicated to the 49th West Riding and Midland Infantry Division. Apparently they were known as Polar Bears!

Oh my goodness Hazel. What a dreadful experience for your OH - I have to go to the Dentist next Monday to have a deep scale and polish and the Dentist has already told me that she will be using local anaesthetics. I am so looking forward to dribbling my tea for the rest of the day!
Busy, what a perfectly lovely surprise for you and your OH at one of your favourite eateries.
@Biglad, I grow blueberries but am not really sure what may have happened to yours. If I was asked to take a stab at the problem I would go with your diagnosis.

Hazel your poor oh I hope he’ll be more comfortable tonight.  You would have thought he’d have been given some medication.  Best to gargle with salt water in the interim.  My dentist has now gone all private.  Years ago I had a root filling and the dentist had drilled right into my jaw I was shaking when I walked out of the building and there was a lot of blood.  LB thank you for the pics you’ve had an interesting day with your brother and very important to be remembered.  Busy how lovely.  I’ve just woken up as so tired before and just had to lay down.  Popped to the sm early.
Thanks folks for your kind remarks. It wasn't our normal dentist, he is on holiday, so we presume the chap OH saw was a locum .Our dentist would have prescribed antibiotics for sure, in this situation, and given a leaflet with after care advice. He has gargled with a salt water solution a couple of times now and had some more painkillers. Thankfully,  the pain has eased off now but we have agreed that if the headaches etc continue by next Monday,we are off to the walk in centre at the hospital. No point in trying to contact doctors. Such a shock for poor OH. Busy, we could have done with your son being around here today!🙂 Ouch Rosie, I  cringed when I read your post, it doesn't bear thinking about. I can well imagine hoe you must have felt. Adrenaline and hen shock, horrible. We were really surprised our dentist had left such a big chunk of foot in the gum, actually, as he is very good....hmm, will have to react quicker next time. Busy, what a lovely day you've had, as have you, too, LB. Lovely pictures, quite stunning but the one with the figures over the poor soul on the ground, rather hit home for me. Awful. On that  note folks, Im signing out for today, Have had enough of it. Night all.Â
