I've never seen our Knautia Macedonica's as tall as they are this year! They are nearly reaching the top of a six foot high fence panel! In fact, I think one is, if held upright. Our other KM has reached to inside the Rowan tree🙂
Filled a bin this morning, still lots more to do.  Bright sunshine whilst typing.  Hazel lovely rose.  Glad plumbing went well.  LB haven’t watched the tennis yet although usually tune in.  Fell asleep on top of the bed early hours.
Lovely pictures Hazel. Thank you for sharing. The rose is a beauty. Pleased you got the pipe problem sorted.
Ruby, much as I would have loved being in the GH today I had to hover around waiting for my bird food to be delivered. This is why it was more than annoying not being able to access my email account. They always send you a rough estimate of delivery times. When it finally arrived at 15:00 I felt so sorry for the delivery man as he looked like a drowned rat. He did carry the 25Kg box to my garage door for me and then asked if I would take in a much smaller package for my neighbours. I always do. I then had to get my waterproof coat on and 'walk' the box into the garage before the cardboard box disintegrated. It was bouncing down and my drive was awash with the rainwater. Anyway, job now done and I'm making a shopping list,
Weather looks pretty good at Queens Hazel. I'll catch cricket highlights tonight - if there has been any play today. Rain caused havoc yesterday.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Evening all. Good to hear you've all had some rain - but not sure that Suffolk had any worth speaking of - typical!
We've had a fabulous day. Sunny and warm (not hot) staying on a lovely campsite right next to the sea (rocky coastline rather than sandy beaches) and this morning we caught the ferry over to the small island of Tjaro.Â
The whole island is a nature reserve and there are no roads at all. There's a marina with a restaurant and some traditional style small house to rent and it's all very pretty. We did a circular walk around the southern half (all of 3.5km!) and were rewarded with spectacular views and complete silence other than the sound of wind, water and birdsong... and the occasional military jet roaring overhead...
Then OH went for a (very brief!) swim, we enjoyed a buffet lunch, then sat and read books while waiting for the return ferry. Idyllic.
It's so nice we've decided to stay for an extra night and just enjoy the peace & quiet. Our neighbours are very friendly and there don't seem to be the free range kiddles one might expect at the start of the summer hols. It's lovely.
Your garden is looking very colourful Hazel. Hope not too much damage was done by the rain. My knautia are very tall this year too.
@debs64 - it's a kind gesture to take some sweet peas for your beleaguered colleagues - I'm sure they were much appreciated.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Tjaro sounds idyllic @Topbird,my sort of place, peace, quiet, walking, reading, what more could anyone want. I don't blame you for staying on an extra day, when you find a magical place why not make the most of it. I could do with a day or two there myself😊 Im signing off for today, too hot🥵 I hope for a better nights sleep tonight than last night.
I've turned it on my Laptop, @Topbird, wanted to look at it properly. Great photos again.
I enjoyed the 2 GCs this morning, both small and family run. I bought some bedding plants, purple petunias for the front in the sun and begonias for the shady bit in the long border and the shady bed opposite the kitchen window. Also bought 2 alpines for the gravel slope and a red gaillardia and a red coreopsis for the end bed.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Topbird it looks lovely and tranquil. Â Enjoy your extra day. Â Quite muggy here, ignoring the ironing. Â Apparently 18 degrees tomorrow so cooler with more rain expected. Â LB be careful lifting have you some small wheels. Â I have a shopper and you can remove the bag and use the platform. Â Rosie
