Morning all - guess where I've been? Couldn't put it off any longer.
Its toasty out there so I will be taking things easy - more work in the garage methinks.
@Busy-Lizzie, that is a job that I must do soon. My choisya has really put on a growth spurt and needs to be tidied up. I will have to be careful though as a clematis (The President) decided to move in on the choisya so careful pruning will be required. Hope the boiler man sorts the problem.

Oh do have another go @Biglad. Once they have matured a little - assuming we don't have any more freaky cold spells - they should be fine. That freaky cold spell has seen off my beautiful passion flower, a prostrate rosemary and many of my thymes and I also think my clematis rehderiana has succumbed but I will try again.

Morning all. Scorcher here too. Busy, try installing a black out roller blind ( in front of any vertical blinds or nets etc (  ie nets, then black out blind then curtains). One of our bedrooms faces East so you can imagine the brightness in early hours) and we've done that and it works brilliantly at cutting out the light (; except around the edges of the curtains obviously). May not  be posting much for a few days folks, this rheumatism has flared up badly now and it's so painful I can't concentrate on much, for long. I'll keep up with your posts though.
we have another beautiful warm, sunny day, though thankfully a little fresher than of late. Really need some rain, though. The ground is solid.
Our afternoon tea at the GC was very nice yesterday. We’d booked it some time ago. Of course, whilst there, we didn’t come home empty handed and bought another rose, Alpine sunset, a hybrid tea. It has a lovely gentle fragrance and is such a a pretty colour. I really love my roses.
We’re proper gadabouts this week as today we are meeting some friends for lunch. (Not at a GC, so my wallet is relatively safe 😂).
I do hope the pain from your rheumatism soon eases @Songbird-2.  Is it connected to this hot, humid weather we’re experiencing or can it flare up at any time?Â
Good morning all. Off to work in a bit . A shorter day than usual because I am working extra hours tomorrow so out for a curry with sister and friend tonightÂ
Hazel, I was so sorry to read your post. Seems as though the steroid injection has had no impact whatsoever. Take it easy our friend.
Red maple, I just couldn't resist a lone Lavender stoechas Anouk that begged to be rescued when I went to 'sco first thing. It should like this hot, dry weather and I'll be able to take it into the cold GH for winter (though that doesn't always prove to be foolproof!) for protection. Enjoy your lunch out and Debs, enjoy your curry night later.

Thanks for the tip @Songbird-2. I'm so sorry about your pain.
The boiler man has been. A washer had gone which caused oil to leak that had dissolved some grease around a ball bearing in the pump.
This morning I've done more watering and weeded and tied up plants in the Laurel bed. Also tied the clematis to the wires on the fence. Etoile Violette had mostly found its wires but the blue viticella, Emilia Plater, was flopped all over everything. Was getting quite hot out there in my jeans. Come in for a break and to change into a dress.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
An early trip out, warm but quite breezy at times. Â Hazel do rest and try and keep cool. Â Red Maple enjoy your lunch. Â LB too hot for the garden trying to keep cool. Â Debs enjoy your curry.
Good afternon all. Another energy zapping day today but enough pottering done to half fill my green bin - mostly with the dreaded mare's tail. Apart from being good for pan scrubbing - does anyone need to do that any more - I cannot think of any good use for it. I had a new hydrangea delivered today - beautifully wrapped but on top of the plastic bag surrounding the 3L pot it came in was a vine weevil! I don't remember being offered that as a free gift! There were two of those typical oval nibbles in one of the leaves. I duly dispatched the culprit and I'm hoping it hasn't had time to lay any eggs in the compost.
