Afties all. Boiling hot here today and little breeze. Have made it to the hairdressers, feels much better now...and lighter too! PR is easing up , thankfully, but now have to speak to someone from the GP surgery next week re the bone scan I had. I've accessed my on-line account and see that I have osteoporosis now, gawd. There appears to be a lot of meds to take but Ill wait and see what I'm told. One thing after another. Hope everyone has been enjoying the nice weather or keeping cool if it's too hot. I have had the blinds, curtains etc shut for a couple of days now and kept ( most) windows shut( a tip I picked up from my cousin in Australia) , it's supposed to keep the heat out and keep inside cool.It does make a difference. We are preparing for a very hot weekend.😱🥵🥵🥵
Hazel, I'm glad that you are better today. Hope the weekend will not be so hot.
Here is not hot, but it's extremely humid and we still have fly infestation. I keep my home closed so it's ok inside, but in school our poor cleaning ladies must sweep the floor after every class. I'll go to the cottage tomorrow, and it will be huge fun to work outside. Sadly, I don't have beekeeper suit.😂 Hope you all managed to cool somehow when is such warm. Now is time for dinner and maybe tea. Yesterday I made more sage syrup and prepared elder flowers for making wine. It will be first time that I'll do that.
Hazel and Ante rather warm here, good tip Hazel. I’m glad your getting some relief and sorry to hear you have osteoporosis and hope you can get some advice. Ante elderflower wine how lovely. I’ve had a good sleep and have had tea. LB I hope you have a better night.
Hello everyone - sorry I've been absent for so long. Been very busy with different things the last few weeks (business accounts and other admin, 3 x Tax Returns submitted, residential course at Cambridge Uni, visiting MIL, keeping on top of the house and garden all ready for our next hols plus all the normal, everyday stuff. Just done a massive read back.
Sorry to hear Yvie and Hazel are suffering at the moment but I was pleased to hear that LB's back is a bit better and Rubee's OH is a little more comfortable.
BL - oil boilers - bloody awful smell when they leak - makes me quite nauseous. I hate that we've been dependent for nearly 30 years now (joys of rural living!).
Not good news to hear we've still had no rain. We've had none since April and the garden is suffering. Had to do a major cutback before we came away and everything's dryza-bone.
So we left home on the overnight ferry on Tuesday and we're now on southern Sweden. Not been before. Having a couple of nights 10 minutes bike ride from Ystad - which is Wallander town if any of you are fans of that Swedish detective. All very pretty - I'll find some photos in a minute.
Tomorrow we'll cycle an hour to some standing stones and then I have some prehistoric tombs, petroglyphs and medieval churches with wall paintings on the radar to visit. OH is happy if he gets to take some nice photos and ride his bike (it's very flat here and lots of cycle paths so nice cycling).
Next Fri and Sat are the midsummer festivities which the Swedish take very seriously and have a 2 day bank holiday and drink lots of Aqua Vit and eat Crayfish and herring. I can do that!!! We've booked into a small campsite for that weekend (our only firm plans but it will get very busy) and the hosts have invited us to join the festivities. This time next week I may be dressing a Maypole type structure with flowers....
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Hazel it must be a huge relief that the PR is easing somewhat. You will need to take real care of yourself having discovered you have osteoporosis. Go at jobs gently. I learned that from wrecking my back. Touch wood it is fine at the moment.
Ante, I find humidity is more exhausting than the heat of the day. Sorry to hear that you are plagued with flies both inside and out. Elderflower wine sounds delicious. My great aunts and maternal grandmother used to make elderflower champagne. I was always too young to sample it. They use to make rose hip syrup as well. That I did taste and it was delicious. Probably because it had loads of sugar in it.

How lovely to see you T'Bird. You have been missed but we appreciate that sometimes life does just take over for a while and it must be a huge relief when you get the tedious paperwork out of the way so that you can get away on your travels without it hanging over your head. I am a huge fan of Wallander though I found the dementia story a bit too close for comfort. What makes me so envious of that second picture is the total lack of traffic. How blissful is that? That beach is also something else - just beautiful. You will have a super time at the festivities but don't be doing anything remotely associated with wicker please!

Hey Rosie. Its good to hear you had a decent sleep. I just cannot sleep during the day no matter how tired I feel. I think it is probably because I'm such a nosey person that I'm terrified I might miss something!!!
