Anyway, never mind about those... Trevor White will be adding to their potted roses tomorrow, Monday.. and their full quota of bare roots for autumn will be ready to order..
@WAMS good detective work there.. so is it just one reveal for Chelsea.. as @rossdriscoll13 mentioned earlier, are they planning for second reveal later? will find out tomorrow..
the scent described on the screenshot seems similar to JTO.. if that's the case, then it might end up in my basket.. like the chalice shaped blooms too.. timing could not have been worse as I spent quite a few on perennials and OH is fuming..
lovely rose and garden shots.. mine is pretty much a summer garden with minimal interest at other times..
Was trying to read what is causing the buds to drop of cleanly.. any suggestions are welcome.. the plants with the said problem (mainly Lady EH and Poets Wife) are in Terracota pots.. so it is not over watering.. may be mineral deficiency or root problems???
@daisym could it be slug pellets? or water absorbent gels? Mycorrhizial fungi pellets also look similar but white.. not sure if color changes with watering.. Did you use any of them on planting? or both were newly planted when you bought them?
I think user calling @Salvia also got sent the same rose instead of Elizabeth.
I can report that this rose is very healthy. I didn’t have any issues with foliage at all - no BS and no mildew. It’s got very pretty spring foliage - green on top and quite bright red on reverse. It was one of the first roses in my garden to produce a bud this spring but it’s still quite way away from blooming. Below the photos of the first bud and then of the whole shrub as it is today.
The scent was pleasant but not particularly strong. You definitely wouldn’t be able to smell it without putting your nose right into the flower…
@cooldoc The Barkarole was a newly potted rose when bought but the Wildfire was a bare root. I haven't used slug pellets or water-absorbent gel but mycorrhizal fungi pellets were provided with the three bare-root roses, and used with the Wildfire rose. Do you think that may have contributed to its demise? Otherwise, I don't know why it died - it was so lovely last summer. The Barkarole never really took off at all with little to no growth.
Thanks for the report, @Oliya. At least you finally have an ID!
Rosa Amazing Day is more or less out after weeks frozen in time- it remains quite cold here. Apart from a faded Kathryn bloom, that's the only rose activity here. But the alliums are cheering the place up And the rhodo / azalea plants. Also my first geranium opened yesterday- Brookside.

@Marlorena - my Eustacia Vye is starting to grow more upright too.
Speaking of upright, Scarborough Fair is trying it this year as well.
A Tale of Two Brunnera. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.
