@Alfie_ Stick with 'Scepter'd Isle' if you want scent, it's very strong... it also flowers continuously.. It would be up there with those I like best from Austin.. it's also a fairly upright grower with good stems.. 'SF' doesn't have much scent, you wouldn't buy it for that.. I like it as a continuous flowering country garden rose, with grace and charm..
Desdemona (which looked poorly a few weeks ago) accompanied by Nepeta. Six Hills Giant
Second Photo Is Austin's GJ, Chandos Beauty and Mme Isaac Perreire. They are all quite small as I brutally cut them down due to poor performance last year. Quite pleased so far
@Marlorena - yes I think you’re right reflecting on it more; looks are the most important. I think I might actually therefore go for Scarborough F first as my next Austin as I like the look of that more. Those lovely open stamens and, as you say, its lovely grace and charm fit in well with our cottage garden theme. Thanks
I went to Coughton Court in Warwickshire today. They have a walled rose garden with a mix of old garden roses and modern varieties. Madame Hardy has the most beautiful individual flowers of all, though the overall plant can be ungainly. They have several dramatic Fantin Latour's. Ferdinand Pichard. Alba semi-plena. Alba Maxima. Madame Plantier.

Nice round buds on Bouquet de la Mariée
Perennial Blue (not very accurately named even compared with other "blue" roses) returns.
Evelyn is opening and it smells to me exactly like Schweppes. Or shandy made with Schweppes.🤔
Is there a name for roses at just this stage? I love it (camellias too). This is Winchester Cathedral.
