But your Blue for You is only young yet @Nollie and mine didn't come into its own till year three. I don't think the blooms are ever large, just prolific. I suspect you are right about heat induced, but as its only one stem with a few buds I'm not worried.
@newbie77 I think that’s leafhopper or some other sap sucking insect damage. It tends to affect roses I have in sheltered spots or near walls. A bit of sawfly damage in the mix here too on The Prince:
Right, really must get on and do the bins and get the shopping in. Funny how I get left the boring tasks while OH swans around the French coast having lunch with a friend!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
You have such a fabulous collection of old Austins @Rojas, love the soft, antique pink/apricot of Leander, reminds me of raw plaster, or Germoline, whose smell reminds me of getting my childhood scrapes attended to!
I lost a few re-blooms of Yolande d’Aragón to bullnosing, but this one made it. Wow, the fragrance is complex and intense - sultry damask with notes of sunny fruits - peaches, lychees etc. plus something else I can’t quite put my finger on..

@Nollie - I think I now know the mystery rose labelled as Graham Thomas (a rose here when we moved in). Pretty sure it is Jude the Obscure. It was stuck under a tree and I moved it in the winter. The blooms are now different in the Sun. Larger and start off more coned shaped.
I think it is Jude because as per the second from last image it is a bit cone shaped. Also. the scent is definitely strong and fruity - similar to Esutacia Vye but not quite as citrus. I would say stronger than Eustacia Vye and definitely stronger than Gabriel Oak. Anyone else that has Jude, do you think it is this? DA does say 'very large' blooms but it was cut back to the ground and moved in the winter. I would say for size it is a bit bigger than WOH but it isn't as big as something like PAoK. Thanks
Nothing new to report. Winchester Cathedral still captivating me. Love the unique pink steaks. Flowering well with good health and the scent is good.
@Alfie_ I remember first saying that I thought it was Jude the Obscure, but I recall you said that you didn't think it had any scent.. so I ruled it out, as Jude has a strong fragrance, to my nose it's of grapefruits..
@Rojas Your collection of Austin's just gets better and better.. so nice to see those older varieties.. thank goodness some people both here and abroad try and keep collections of them going..
@Marlorena - thanks for the photos. Yes it wasn't that fragrant last year but the first bloom this year is definitely strong. Yes, grapefuit! I was trying to think of what itr was like as it isn't as sharp as lemon. Your's look more plump and they seem to have a lot more petals inside but I guess from cutting it back and moving it could eplxain that. From my last post would you say it is Jude? There isn't any other Austin of that colour with a scent that strong.
