Does anyone know why all of a sudden since yesterday I am getting emails about every post in this thread, before I was just getting emails if someone referenced me.

Thanks for reminding me that of the search bar @Mr. Vine Eye It's a useful tool and i have no idea why i didn't think to use that?!
Thanks for your advice on Lichfield Angel @Marlorena i'll look forward to the next flush. Good luck with yours @ElbFee
Most of my roses have gone over now and most are being hit by black spot. Once Iceberg Floribunda gets it they seem to lose their leaves instantly. My potted Bring Me Sunshine has been my best performer so far, not a blemish on the leaves.
I've just seen Ronnie O'Sullivan at the garden center. I think he was eyeing up a plant.
Hello everyone, I’ve been away with work and am miles behind on this thread but saw a couple of notifications.
@WAMS, not me who advised about Sophie Rochas but glad it is doing well for you.
@lacartridgesAZyIGss, welcome to the thread. I did have Golden Gate but I had to get rid of it as it was too much for me. A beautiful, scented, floriferous rose but would send up 8’ unpliable canes and I found maintenance a bit grim. I’m not a fan of stiff caned climbers anyway, I prefer the bendy caned type so I am not a fair judge. I think @pitter-patter has a young version that they likely keep better trained than I did. Sorry if this has already been said, I need to go back a million pages and will reappear when I have checked out all your roses from the end of May
In the meantime, here’re some roses where I was staying in Denmark:
@Alfie_ much better bloom photos to illustrate, I agree it’s not Roald Dahl, that’s not so deeply cupped and although it has a pleasant fragrance nothing like you describe. Lucky you to have stumbled on Jude!

@SalixGold the general term ‘bush rose’ encompasses both floribundas and HTs. Yes, with modern breeding the lines between the two seem increasingly blurred, since newer HTs can be bushier rather than upright, bare sticks, don’t aways have the classic, high centred blooms we associate with them and the often have some clusters too. The breeder designates the class, but there is a misleading tendency to label something a floribunda, even when the habit says otherwise. Floribundas probably sell more. I’ve moaned about Delbard doing that (several times!) but other breeders are not immune.

@Vh72 have you accidentally clicked on the star symbol on the same line as the title thread so it’s now solid rather than an outline? That would do it.

I think it might be general forum glitches, @Vh72... this keeps logging me in and out and I have been getting e-mail notifications about posts from a troll I blocked/hid! Very irritating.
@Marlorena thanks. Yes that top one matches it very well! Could you give me a brief run down of its habit - mainly quality of repeat bloom and does it hold its shape or is it octopus canes? thanks
@ElbFee thanks. I find myrrh generally a very unique scent. To get anise and christmas smells from a rose is so strange. I do love it though but the only one I have that smells like that is WOH.
@Nollie thanks. I did look up Jude and nowhere seems to sell it. Why is it that roses well out of their patent are not sold anywhere by the usual places like Beales, Henry street etc?
@Alfie_ because DA refuse to licence them to do so if they want to sell the newer roses. They seem intent on eliminating the competition as well at their heritage.

@Nollie wait what?! So if they want them to sell their new ones the license prohibits them from selling their old ones alongside? That’s ridiculous. Am I right in thinking I can propagate and sell any of their roses if the *patent is 20 or more years old?
