roses are all bare root received in January and February this year. Unfortunately a couple I planted too deeply so tag is buried so waiting to see what they are.
Will catch up reading after my garden visitors have left on Sunday, but want to share some pics with you to calm my nerves.
The daily Petit Prince for @WAMS now accompanied by matching peonies. It keeps the colour very well. Scent is only very light for me. But, oh joy, it throws basals while blooming.
Another potted rose, Charles Austin. Rather fast changing of colour but I like how it develops from HT look to centifolia-ish.
This is supposed to be Felidae. I am not so sure. I once helped to relocate an 8.000² park of roses and took the plants that nobody else wanted. Coincendently those were mostly unlabelled.
Mind Games ages fom white and red striped to very bright red. Looks a bit like Versicolor on drugs.
Here is another very bright rose from that park. Called The Sunset. To me it looks a bit like Pullmann Orient Express. Maybe. Or just something to wake you up at your screen.
Finally a good bloom of white Jacques Cartier. This rose has a strong old rose scent and a lovely centifolia look although it is a damask rose.
The gold dust rose, Lady Emma Hamilton. Moved from a pot to soil and is only one-legged since then. I had expected a bit more gratitude for this, i.e. basals.
A very spiky bare root from my late May purchase. Interesting foliage.
And my favorite couple at the moment. Jenny Duval and James L. Austin, both very fragrant and keeping the colour.
@pitter-patter - beautiful garden! I miss foxgloves this year. Must try and sow some more ready for next year. I did some a month or two ago but they didn’t germinate.
This week I received a letter from the town council claiming that I hadn’t paid my allotment rent. I have, can see the payment on my bank statement, correct payment details and everything. So it’s their error.
However that’s prompted an inspection - apparently mine’s failed inspection. I was very annoyed as I’ve been there a lot lately and made a lot of progress.
The thing is I don’t cut areas down until I’m ready to plant them. We got our plot as a jungle of horsetail, couch grass and bindweed and if I leave an area bare too long, even just a week, it quickly starts to return to that.
Besides I’d rather have an area covered in green for the benefit of the soil and wildlife than just bare.
Anyway I was planning to cut back and get some squashes and things planted, so I’ve just ramped that up, did a couple hours last night and cleared a huge amount.
My new Japanese Sickle is awesome.
Hopefully by the time it’s reinspected there will be noticeably more of it with things growing - most of my plants, due to the cold have yet grown enough root in their pots to plant out though.
But if they want the wildlife area at the back cultivating they can get stuffed.
Not nice, came on a day I was already quite stressed with work (I’m solo directing a school musical production - I’m sure you can imagine what a headache that is!)
At least I came back to a glorious fragrance at the front door, a mix of Desdemona, Lady of the Lake and Emily Bronte
@Mr. Vine Eye in German you would say you have been handed a used day yesterday. All will be well in the end. If it is not well yet, it is not the end yet.
Yes, @Marlorena, I'm surprised- Lolabelle is not even a bit yellow at this stage. I hope when I get Bring Me Sunshine next year that it will be that glorious buttercup yellow that others have experienced!
You captured her beauty better, @Elbfee, but I am really liking the colouring of Kathryn (Ronnie Rawlins)
@WAMS than you for the confirmation. It’s currently a 2 stick wonder in a pot. I will transfer it to the main garden come winter. This is my contender for LEH I definitely remember purchasing it from TCL and receiving it but I’ve planted it so can’t get access to the label at this point. I’ll post a picture again when the bloom is fully open. It certainly has the same fragrance.

@Elbfee such beauties you have, too. I was only looking at Charles Austin yesterday. Lovely colours. Does it repeat OK?
