Hello all and especially @Yviestevie. Sorry to hear you have had such an awful time of things. A friend of mine had a stroke just before Christmas and at one point I was extremely worried for him, he looked so poorly. However, with excellent rehab care and physio he is doing really well now. He still struggles with some movement in his leg but is walking unaided and his arms and speech are back to what they were. With luck your husband will make the same sort of progress. A shame about the lack of hospital visits.

Glad you made the most of the day @punkdoc, despite the rain, a decent bottle of wine open now perhaps?

Heavy showers off and on all day today, but still they came, lots of new faces and all French today, not one English person, yesterday they were mainly French too. So many of the smaller, traditional restaurants have been unable to open because of lack of outdoor eating areas and I think we have benefitted from that. Lots of positive feedback and assurances they'll be back again soon. All bodes well. Fingers crossed.

Off to have a wet walk around the garden now and check out the Lilly Beetles! Have a good evening all.

Hi everyone & especially @Yviestevie,  a family friend had a stroke a couple of years ago.  He has made an almost complete recovery, so hope for your hubby yet.
Rain on & off all day here, hailstones at one point.  Will it really be summer solstice in less than a month? 🤔

Well ... that was quick ... Lola the Megane cabriolet has a new home ...  son got me a wee bit more than id thought so I’ve been able to reward him for all his hard work and time spent. 😊
Now I’m relaxing with some recordings of Canal Boat Diaries ... great ‘slow tv’ 😊

Hi folks, thanks for all the support.  I'm trying to stay positive.  He has made remarkable progress so far so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a complete recovery.  NHS has been wonderful, the ambulance arrived within 5 mins of my call and a doctor called within the hour to say he had had a scan and they were waiting for the results.   It was due to a blood clot in the brain.  I asked if it might be caused by the AZ Covid jab but the doctor said it was a different type.  They called me again two hours later to say that he was going to the QE hospital to have the clot removed but he didn't need to go in the end because the clot busting drugs were doing such a good job.  Everything has been such a blur over the last few days.

I am glad to say my sister is improving and should be allowed home in a couple of days. It seems she has a bacterial pneumonia infection despite having had the vaccination a couple of years ago. Her GP service really dropped the ball on this one by failing to diagnose correctly for two weeks despite a previous history of pneumonia. In the end she had to arrange transport herself to get to the A&E hospital on the other side of the Clyde and was in a very poor state when she got there. Thankfully the hospital have done an excellent job but she will be making a formal complaint about the GP response.

@Yviestevie, I am sure you know this, but the fact he had such a rapid recovery of limb function [ due to clot dissolution ], means that speech recovery is more likely.

Thanks for the reassurance @punkdoc  Lots of people have said this so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  Got quite emotional this evening as he called me on the phone and managed to say 'yes' to some of my questions.  I could almost hear his mind trying to think of the words to say but it was just mainly garbled sounds that came out, although he did laugh at a couple of my jokey comments.  Once again folks, thanks for all your support.

Thank heavens for our wonderful NHS!  So glad they have been able to help your husband @Yviestevie and your sister @steephill.
RHS Bridgewater sounds amazing @punkdoc - even in the rain.
I wandered about the garden in the odd spots of sunshine we had, tying up the odd tendril here, pulling up a weed there but unable to get stuck in because of the damn wind and rain.  Still - Thursday is looking good.  I don't know about no mow May - it's been impossible and the grass is looking - lush, verdant, jungle like? A scythe would be of more use than the mower I think.

I’ve just seen your worrying news Yvie. I’m amazed that you still sound good.   My very best wishes to you and your Hubby for it all to go away. Gabriel too.

We might get some rain late today, if I can believe the forecast.
