Morning folks, yes, I have been up a while, changed the bed, got a long hot wash on. We DO have a "care button" on here, this is it!! My mum was my best friend,I feel guilty to this very day,I was wasn't as good a daughter as I could have been,I wasn't brought up huggy, touchy, feely.she died in 1989,at 64, because her GP ignored warning signs for 2 years. I have always envied folks who have parents who live till their 90s.20 years I couldn't talk about her without crying. I do still dream about her, she's here but dying. Unfortunately, she was in the hospital where I worked, and he had a GP unit, so I told them where to stick their job. Went back to secretarial work, and that's where I met my second husband. His father had just died only in his 50s. I do believe in Karma, and I had only gone in to ask directions, when I was offered that job!!
I'm going to the bilingual accountant lady today who does the online tax forms for the local English who don't understand such things. May is tax month in France.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I went back to bed and I've woken to gale force winds and rain. Forecast is for " sustained winds up to 50mph with gusts possibly double that " Wonderful.!
Good morning Forkers. It is cool, cloudy with sunny bits and a breeze so pleasant really given recent gusty gale spells. Feeling a bit bleugh today which does not bode well for seeing the dentist and being mauled.
Well done @Hostafan1 and you too @D0rdogne_Damsel. It was good to see people sitting out on terraces yesterday, under cover, and no doubt OH will enjoy being able to have a drink with his pals after his golf tomorrow.
OH is out there shovelling compost about ready for me to plant out squashes this afternoon, assuming it's warm enough overnight. Maybe not. The forecast says a low of 5C on Saturday but no rain to compensate for poor temps. Humph!
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

The weather is really layering-up here and the high winds are expected this afternoon until tomorrow mid morning. I’m hoping the forecast dry day on Saturday is granted.
One shift per week sounds more like it Hosta 👍🏼
Take care all and have a good day, whatever you are up too.
That sounds like the ideal job @Hostafan1. Plan for today: greet the guy who was coming at 8.30am to replace a rotten rainwater downpipe and repoint the mortar where the leaking rain had damaged it. Be working in the garden while he was up his ladder. Actual: pipe guy phoned at 9.30am to say he was outside Travis Perkins unable to buy bags of lime mortar (or any cement) as there is a national shortage and it has to be ordered. Remade appointment for next week. Original appointment was for March - put off because of heavy rain, next appointment was April - snowing on the day he was going to come. Fingers crossed for next week. I'm still not in the garden - but I must, despite the fact that it is so grey and gloomy and not at all inviting.
It's horrible out there at the moment, very gusty winds and horizontal heavy rain. Think I may drive down to the Surgery later rather than walk as planned. Don't fancy getting blown over. Nipped out earlier to put things under cover and tie Harry (a giant wicker hare my daughter gave me for Xmas) to the gate. It's a bit big to bring indoors and the wind should just blow straight through it I hope. Stay safe everyone.
Hi all I was at Capel manor today. Managed the whole session in the dry. The Arb team had to take down a tree, I think the wind had damaged it. Not sure what it was, as they had to block a main path off from a long way back so I couldn't get close enough to see.

That's good news @Hostafan1.

The sun has gone, sky is grey and damp and the wind is picking up ... I won't be potting up the toms today.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
