No need to "shut up" @Biglad if it helps you offload some stress or anger.  The great thing about this forum and this thread in particular is the friendship combined with a degree of anonymity.

@punkdoc - yes, take each day or even each moment as it comes and don't feel pushed to feel/do/say what you think is expected.  Just be.

I have been out having fun with Possum on the grounds that we need a new bed up near the house for all these aromatics so she had to come and help me pot them up to grow on while that happens.  "Do I need gloves?"  No.  "Will I get messy?" Yes.  "Why cant' I have gloves?"  Cos you need to feel what you're doing. And so on and so forth.

Anyway, we now have one vervain/verbena split into 4 and potted up; ditto a Moroccan mint;  1 sage potted on and then I said while she was on she could help me pot on the veggie babies - 15 fennel, 6 broccoli, 15 oak leaf lettuce, 6 strawberries, 6 green crispy lettuce I haven't met before.  All now watered and in the polytunnel to be safe form chooks and cool nights.

I did not find lemon balm or mugwort/artemisia vulgaris which strikes me as odd.  No calendula either and she wants jasmine and I suspect my trachelospermum won't d@tui34 already have rosemary, thymes, lavender and I found a lovely juniper to go out in the main garden.

Have we missed anything special @tui34?   Anyone else know about this stuff?  Maybe we need a herbalism thread.

Off to cook dinner now - dentist tomorrow so no garlic - then Sewing Bee.

In an effort to up my credentials for best Mum of 2021 I have just proof-read all 15,000 words of littlest Chicklet’s final dissertation.....and I am a bit in awe.  That’s on top of a 5k word essay yesterday, and a similar tome last week.  Not quite sure when my baby transmogrified into an academic genius đŸ€Ł.  Final push now ....2 more days of graft and her undergraduate days will be over.

Its also got me thinking that when I first started posting on Forkers she hadn’t even picked her GCSE options.  Where did that go đŸ€Ł

@Chicky   Well done.  They need plenty of back up.  That input is important to her.

    Evening.

Quiet comtemplation is appropriate and part of ‘it’ @Punkdoc. I hope any sharp thoughts will mellow.

Not very warm warm here but I managed an hour of post-work pottering. Neighbours have cut back some ivy/bramble/Holly/cotoneaster mixture which was against a portion of adjoining boundary, behind my Rhododendrons, so I have done the same on my side to finish the job. Looks better.

    Have a relaxing evening everyone.

    Evening all,

Just nipped to B&Q to pick up some MPC. It's a glorious evening. This was the view when I opened the front door. Next door's front garden is looking a lot better than mine :(

    Lovely view @Biglad.

You and me both @Obelixx. My daughter finally phoned me last night after a week or so of silence, mum... my parsnips haven't come up yet, what do I do?  I was so overjoyed and relieved she'd phoned, we had a lovely long chat about her new veggies, that she might just struggle to grow broccoli in a gro-bag and parsnips could be a bit difficult but I was sure she could cope. I was looking forward to seeing her new place after Whitsun but she doesn't feel 'ready' yet and I'm anxious not to pile any pressure on her, slowly, slowly does it , I think.  It's like walking on eggshells at times. I have a job to remember she's 50 not 15 !

Talking of tisanes, I found my book on wild flowers this morning and was having a browse. I didn't know that hembane looks very similar to cow parsley! Very scary.
Have a look at Jekka McVicars website on herbs (I think she's got one). It's probably got lots of suggestions for what Possum needs.

Morning everyone. This morning is similar to yesterday. No rain on the forecast for the next week or so.

DD, love reading your adventures. Keep it up.

Speaking of losing our parents, mine have been gone for years, but I still grieve for my daughter. I’ve a photo beside me where I sit and knit. I still can’t have a conversation with her husband. Still angry it’s him for his lack of care of her at the end. Luckily, he’s 6 hours drive away, so I don’t need to run into him. I believe that he has found someone new, so I hope she feels cared for.

The vaccine had another go at me last evening. Headache and icky.  Actually, thinking about it now, maybe the commercially produced frozen Bolognaise that Hubby heated up for us was the cause rather than the vaccine.  I’ve got to be careful of strong helpings of tomato and some spices.  Felt unable to enjoy the Eurovision stuff which we always watch.  Not helped by the stupid Australian commentators who kept speaking over the top of everything. 😡  sometimes I wonder what they are thinking, especially the false joking and comments and gushing about how all contestants are SO loved.

Hubby cheered me up with a post by Dave Allen last night. Couldn’t stop laughing for ages. Some of you might remember it. He was showing a bloke how his house had been automated and could tell doors etc to close or open, then the bloke had a go and I won’t bother repeating his last instruction. 😂😂😂😂

    Good morning!

Bright and sunny here - early start this morning, my agenda is full.
@Pat E I hope you are feeling better in the morning.  Too much salt in SM prepared foods for me.  I prefer to get my salt from Marmite and the delicious French salamis and small goods.  Yes, I remember Dave Allen!

Have a pleasant day everyone but it seems that your weather (according to GMB) is pretty disastrous (unless you are a snail or a duck!!)

Good morning all 😊 ☕ ... hope those feeling under the weather are on the mend đŸ€—Â
We have bright sunshine here so far ... rain is promised for the afternoon ... but that’s what they said yesterday and then,  as soon as I was ready to start potting on the toms on the terrace there was a crack of thunder and the heavens opened ... will the potting on be done today ...?
