Odd one out as usual. Did we really need to know " there's no Nigel today. My son has taken him for a long walk" ?

Can you imagine the tweets asking if Nigel was ill or worse had died? I think N & N have more fans than Monty!

Clari image  for years and years  my little gardening granny was a voluntary Centre Organiser for what was then the WVS (and later the WRVS).

From its beginning at the outbreak of WW2, to her retirement in the early 1980s when she was in her 80s she organised  homes for evacuees, prams and baby clothes for unmarried mums who had little support, loans of medical equipment, hospital visits for those without transport, meals on wheels and holidays for the elderly (many of whom were younger than she was) and loads of other stuff, and was awarded the BEM by the Queen.  Brilliant organisation.  I know it's changed hugely since my granny's day, but I hope the job gives you as much fulfillment as she found with the organisation image

Your gardening granny sounds an absolute angel! What a lovely woman to have dedicated all those years to helping others.

which shows what  a sad excuse of a " gardening" programme it has become.

On a plus note, I loved those tulips MD picked. Did anyone catch the name?

Morning all/ afties Pat - lovely blue sky - it could be Scotland at the moment!

We like to rub it in when we get the chance...image

Off in a little while to walk. No daughter to pick up tonight from work so I can take my time and enjoy the views.

Not watched GW. NIce view Hosta - do you have to hang on to your hollyhocks?  Nice and calm here today for a change - my garden has been like that most days recently too. Are you going in the tunnel to stay out the breeze?  No sneaky kipping among the plants then....image

I opened the curtains and there was a little blue tit down on the grass collecting the magpie feathers from a r***y cat  attack the other day....every cloud I suppose.

Quick look round now before I go. Have  a grand day everyone, whatever you're doing image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Hello Pat image  She was indeed a remarkable woman - however I know that Ma felt that she and her siblings had been left to be cared for mainly by the housemaid (every middle class home had one back then) and rather resented the time their mother spent on 'good works'. Swings and roundabouts I suppose - and times were very different.

We've been sitting in bed listening to a song thrush singing somewhere out there. He's been at it for over an hour ... Wonderful image

That changes things a bit Dove, but as you say. That was how it was in those times.

ive just been out and picked some flowers for the vase. My Chrysanths are out in time for Mother's Day next weekend.
