I think I mentioned that my Clem. Daniel Deronda had never been happy in the west facing border ... well, it's given up the ghost ... I had been going to dig it up and pot it and give it some tlc and find a new home for it, but during the mild March it put on a growth spurt and produced lots of buds so I left it there ... I've been giving it plenty of water as the soil there is very free draining, but it's keeled over and died. Possibly the dreaded 'wilt' ... or possibly just the effort of producing all those buds finished it off.
Anyway, now I need something to climb up that trellis fence ... west facing and slightly shaded from the south, but as I sad, very free-draining soil.
The trellis is about 1.75m tall by 1m wide.
Colours in that bed are pinky-plums, creams, apricots, rusty-yellows and bluey green (Hosta Hadspen Blue and Rosa glauca).
Any ideas?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Cool here and wet which is great after I planted so many treasures yesterday but now we're confined to barracks with stir crazy dogs and one kitten all mithering for play and attention. Cosmos isn't bothered at all and happy to play indoors. We've been doing h****work and have had a thorough clean so a conscience free weekend of gardening and a plant fair to come.
Chappy is coming to talk about the shower room today but is late cos of traffic at Bordeaux and then we have an SM raid to do before some friends arrive on their way back from Portugal to Belgium.
Glad you've had a good sleep Hosta. Bit like Mrs Thatcher - 3 hours all week or more and then one long one to catch up.
Sounds like you need a smelly honeysuckle Dove. We had a gorgeous deep pink and purple one in Belgium and have inherited a soft yellow one here. Yum!
Clari - 2 dogs are great fun as long as they have separate feeding places and plenty of toys. Our terrier type is a demon for pinching toys off the Lab and he hoovers up his food and will steal hers given half a chance. Not cheap tho - vets, food, baskets, leads, collars etc.
Busy - hope you're enjoying a lovely cuddle.
Greetings to all I've missed.

The world has gone mad. I see the front of the Sun says "Consumer champ May targets fatcats"

PITA = pain in the ass
