Good afternoon everyone. OH and I have been out indulging in some HRT at a plant fair held in the streets in a village about an hour away. It stayed dry while we explored the offerings but was very windy. Good haul of plants at reasonable prices but some were outrageous - 19€ for a medium sized brunnera Looking Glass. I bought 3 small Jack Frost at 4€ each from another chap and some lovely shrubs and perennials plus some real bluebellswe've had 2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours or so a.
The village bar was offering Paella with chicken and prawns and mussels and squid or a BBQ plate of 3 different sausages so we had paella. Utter chaos at the bar but great atmosphere in the fair which wound thru lovely old streets.
Now I have to tend to the new treasures before I snuggle back indoors. It's cool and windy and grey again here but we've had 2" of much needed rain in the last 24 hours or so and I'm not complaining.
Pity you have to work on a good hill walking day FG. Love your neighbours. Glad you've managed a walk with OH Liri.
Hosta - I thought LoD was predictable after spotting two of the baddies early on. Enjoyable tho.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Snap Obelixx, I've been at a plant fair at Weston Park on the Staffs/Shrops border. There were a few rain showers but on the whole a really good day. Bought Sanguisorba Tanna, Fuchsia Hawkeshead and a Myrtle plant, all reasonably priced. We then went for a good walk through the gardens and saw lots of bluebells. Shattered now. Too tired to put the plants in today but hopefully will get them planted tomorrow before going off to Secondborn's on Nanna duty.
Been out today and bought some plants for the partially shaded border at the bottom of the garden. I had planted echinacea and rudibekia there last year but they obviously didn't like the shade and soil type as they're currently very dead looking stumps (I'm still hoping they'll come back). The huechera and ferns love it there though so we decided to buy some more of those and we also got some lovely pots for the new patio. Weather's turned a bit grim though so I think they'll have to wait till next weekend to be planted out!
Isn't that just typical ? Sun's out, sky is blue, the wind has dropped and it's pleasantly warm .....and it's too late to drop preparing evening meal and start planting out runner beans !

Ive just spent many happy hours potting up and filling seed trays. Has been a good day.
love that fern Kate, what is it?
Just guessing: Athyrium niponicum ‘Metallicum’ - painted lady fern and maybe Cyrtomium falcatum - Japanese holly fern

Papi Jo is right, the green is a a cyrtomium and the burgundy tinted one is the athyrium
