Hosta - you wonder how much waste happens in these companies don't you? Does person A ever think to speak to person B? The words a**e and elbow spring to mind...
Flip flops and nettles...ouch Obelixx...
Are the 'ideal' sites a bit too hot for them do you think? The swallow have been flitting around here for a couple of weeks. No idea where they nest - mainly the farm along the road I should think, and over in the house in the NT garden.
Liri - I wasn't expecting much from any of them , but I figured that if a couple of the lilies and a few liatris sprouted, it was a good little bargain. They're all in little pots at the moment. You've been patient waiting for that lilac!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Phew! Back from tennis ... very enjoyable .... my painful arm/shoulder is sooooooooooo much better.
Some weeks ago I started getting pain in the left arm as well as the right ... this seemed to me to indicate a condition rather than an injury, so I started googling ..... I read stuff (on reputable medical websites) about the possibility of calcium supplements not being well absorbed by the body, and causing joint problems and contributing to magnesium deficit which can cause muscle problems. I have been taking 1200 mg of calcium with vit. D daily as advised by my GP to help prevent bone density problems as I'm on a high dose of levothyroxine.
Three weeks ago I stopped taking the calcium supplements and instead upped my intake of foods containing calcium and magnesium. This week there has been a noticeable improvement ... the chronic ongoing muscle pain I had been living with in my upper arm has gone, and the sharp pains when I extend my arm horizontally or above my head are negligible ... I can wash my own hair!!! and I can reach out and hit a tennis ball without pain
I shall tell my GP at my next 6 monthly checkup and see what she says.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Swallows and house martins need a reliable supply of mud to build nests! Sometimes a seemingly perfect nest site is too far from the right sort of mud.

FG - our ruin and barn are just like the other farm buildings and houses round here. Just a bi more shambolic. We have wood pigeons nesting in one barn and blue tits under the eaves on teh east side of the house and somebody under the overhang of the donkey shed so all sorts of possibilities - in theory. I'll put up nest boxes and see if anything comes.
bed all weeded and forked over. Pots all watered. Wind has risen and cloud cover developed so down to 18C now. Planting treasures this pm so I'll have fewer pots to water.
That's a good haul Hosta. No freecycle here but I did see at a couple of plat fairs organised by garden clubs that punters are allowed a stand to exchange plants for free. No selling allowed.
Good news Dove. I hope it continues well for you.

Thanks Obs. The lady who gave me the plants told me she was given an old ( ish ) Atco cylinder mower in almost perfect working order. She's involved with creating croquet greens in Bude and she'll be using the mower for that.

Maybe the service would be better if we nationalised it ! [ throwaway comment, not looking for an argument ]

Just back with my latest haul from freecycle:
about 20 tomatoes, 4 cucumbers, a load of leek seedlings and a bag of onion sets

Obelixx. I have never heard of a silk tree. It sounds like it would need a lot of looking after - sounds exotic. Must look it up.
back from dentist. Warm and sunny so into the garden 'til 4'30 when carer goes.
Hosta, you did well with freecycle
indeed so Joyce, they even made me a cup of tea.
