Joyce: I've just scrubbed the oven with some seriously good cleaner. But it has to be left to work for at least four hours (preferably overnight) so when it comes to not cooking by means of celebration...
I'm microwaving myself beans on toast!
His lordship says we can go out for a meal if I like. But what with him being busy tonight, disliking going out for meals at a weekend, my going to scouts on a Monday night and then him flying abroad for work ... I think the offer might have expired by the time he gets back.
Still. Its the thought that counts!
Who had bets on what it would be like leaving a job I had put so much in too? A job that saw me instrumental in teaching over 6,000 people life saving skills? A job I was so dedicated too I cancelled holidays, family weekends, and spent thousands of unpaid overtime away from my home to keep the money flowing into the museum.
Who thought I'd be getting flowers? Nope!
A card and box of chocolates? Nope!
A thank for your all your efforts? Nope!
A good bye? Nope!
The bare minimal recognition of me even leaving the building.... WE HAVE A WINNER!
Like any of you would have been stupid enough to bet on chocolates!
Enjoy your weekend WW! I see Dove has essential rations ready to bring up to you.
What we need here is some decent rain. It keeps messing around with barely moist dribbles: just enough to make it humid but not enough even to knock down the dust bath the birds have created under the apple tree.
What we REALLY need is an EPIC THUNDERSTORM the type that has the kind of rain that not only gets you wet, but gets even the bits of you that can survive a shower barely moistened properly soaking wet. That's it guys: we need the kind of rain storm that bounces off the floor and comes up to your arm pits (what were you thinking off? Tsk really Dove!)
Clari, you have the huge amount of handmade cards from grateful kids! Your employers...I mean EX EMPLOYERS, disgust me!
Joyce, so looking forward to Doves visit, done lots in the garden since last time and i dont have gardening friends so no feedback. I would post pics but its got a patchy lawn due to no rain when I reseeded the entire thing after levelling
Clari - par for the course I'm afraid given past performance. You are well out of there. Aw Wonky says, the people you welcomed and trained and hosted on their various visits appreciated you.
Wonky - maybe you'll develop gardening friends thru work. Sounds like you're having fun there. Enjoy yourself with Dove tomorrow and let her cosset you.
LG - I recognise the problem of thinking but not typing. I'm sure we all do as we all seem to lead busy lives.
My plans for this pm went west. Rain meant we couldn't do walkies straight after lunch and I fell asleep on the sofa instead of painting a bedroom wall. Oh well. There's always tomorrow.
Have a good TGIF evening everyone.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Congratulations Clari - it's the start of better things.
Welcome back, Pdoc. Hope you unwind quickly, and Mrs P forgives you...
LGtheL, most of us do more reading than posting. Life takes over and I think "I'll post about that later".
Mostly mist today with drizzle this morning, when we volunteers were filling planters outside the police station with soil, then planting herbs and veg for the community. A bit muddy but satisfying. Like most of you, we could do with some proper rain though...
